Really bad opener for me. Didn't see a single deer from the stand. The deer I saw were 2 does standing next to my truck when I walked out last night. Go figure

Strangest/worst opening weekend ever for me. Headed back to Emmittsburg this morning, Friday morning something will die.

I had a good night last night, no kills though. Ended up having 1 fawn, 3 does, and 1 four pt velvet buck go by all with in 20 yards. It was a nice to see deer! Still waiting on the 10 I keep getting pics of.

I headed out from my morning hunt at around 9:30. Saw one 4pt and two smaller (buck or does) walk past at around 75 yards. For the afternoon I headed out to the Mears property at Patapsco Valley State Park but didn't stay. That place is crazy thick and overgrown! Way too much scrubby brush and trees and grape vine on everything. The way that place was, tracking and dragging out a deer would be no fun at all. Passed another hunter going in and asked if there were any trees to sit in that he knew of but his response was "nope, hunt from the ground". At that point it was almost 80 degrees so I called it quits anyway.

He had a crossbow and there is some open ground where they're reforesting so I may scout around a bit and try to find an edge to hunt if I go back. Otherwise, will probably wait till later season so some of that green stuff can die out. Might be a good place for hunting in the snow.

If it's that thick in there it may be a good place to hunt during the rut. Try and find a doe bedding area in the thick stuff and hunt the edges.

I'm sitting out right now at Prettyboy. Nothing yet but did just have 2 women on horses come by 25mins ago on my right about 60-70yds away in which their voices echoed through the woods and I could make out every word spoken by the 2 of them lol. Love Public Land

I will be in a tree in the morning. After last Saturday sitting in the rain, I'm considering tomorrow my opening day. There will be blood!

Good luck. I'm holding off until Monday afternoon. Will be climbing near a mock scrape and oak knob that if we do get a NE wind it will be perfect

I will be in the stand tomorrow morning also! I have been jumping around a lot and sitting in new areas. Trying this year to scout a lot more and not sit the same old areas and burn them out. I got a new spot picked out for tomorrow, and plan to shoot a buck or doe. Good luck to you guys that are heading out tomorrow!

Gotta love that right? Sometimes when I'm up there, I hear people pass by and it sounds like they're 50 feet away, not 100 yards through the forest. Weird.

Going to hopefully head out later today and so some scouting at some other Patapsco Valley areas. This week will be a cool one!

It was tricky doing selfies and my flash wouldn't work but it's good enough to use. Here's her just pulled in the shop. It was tough blood trailing 110ish yards in the rain alone too but that's a good hunt. Slight quartering away. [IMG]

Thank you. Her and another doe came across the oak knob surprisingly without fawns. She was good and calm 22 yards slight quarter. 5 minutes after, the rain started and hasn't let up since
