I'm new. Not sure how this works. Not really live but had a good time on my day off today. It's Columbus Day and work decided it was one of our 12 holidays! I wish they gave Veteran's day off instead, though, given it coincides with the rut here.;)

Went to a Wildlife Management Area this morning and sat in my ghillie beneath a huge oak surrounded by thick brush with a couple of trails 30 yards to my left leading out into the corn. When I scouted the place, I thought, what, corn, on public land? Then I saw a sign saying the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association plants it each year. 12 acres in the middle of about 200 acres of woods in a horseshoe around it. The day I scouted it at Noon, a couple of guys were coming out and told me they had been hunting it for years and had just hung some stands. I saw their stands on the oaks at different points along the field edges and thought those must be good spots. So I sat by one of the trees for my backdrop. Guy's stand was still there so looked up to make sure he was not in it. ;)Some shapes moving in the darkness about 15 yards out but nothing in legal shooting light. Still, a pretty view and day off of work.

Went, in, had some lunch and then out to some private land I can hunt. Put up my haybale blind about 15 yards from the corn. Will move it a hundred yards or so down the treeline once the corn comes out in a week or two (hopefully). Good stuff. Good luck guys.

I'm on a new private property in Pr. William county. It's the second time I've hunted it. Got a picture of a pretty nice buck back in Sept. We'll see what happens.

Back in the ridge top stand, been 9 days since I've been up here. Hoping to catch one of the bigger bucks I saw on camera this Summer. Tree at 25 yds is all rubbed up. Caught a wide 7 pt on camera tearing it up two days before the season, it looks more torn up now. Hopefully a pattern. Sprayed down real good, wind is not steady image.jpg

Back up in the stand for the first time since I shot my buck (and the first day it hasn't rained). Different property trying to fulfill one of my two does required before my next buck.

I will get you out sooner than later. My buddy (who is brand new to hunting and just joined this site) lives 2 minutes from Prettyboy. You take us and show him a couple good spots to sit and I'll get you out with me. Sounds like a good trade!
