On my first sit here in the Appalachians of va. Jumped one under my stand then had Bambi run under me as soon as I got in tree. Season started Saturday here but it was 87 degrees so I waited on the front. Around 60 now suppose to hit 30's later in week. I'm high on life right now.

Took the 4yo home, went and picked up the older kids from school, now I'm out withe my 8yo daughter. Raining, 62 deg. There is a brake in the rain to our west. Hoping it gets here before dark, deer get up and move around here pretty instantaneously after a front goes through. image.jpg image.jpg

Sitting over the bean plot tonight, slipped in here after work am able to utilize the creek which is just 60 to 70 yards from me to keep noise and scent down. We will see how it works out.

Buddy cherish these days. Mine are all grown up and I sure miss being in the woods with them. College takes up all their time now.

Just had something bump into my stand, and climb up the tree I'm in, that's kinda creepy, thinking it was a bat, it started making a squeaking sound I have heard before. Woods are active this morning, lot of critters moving around, just can't tell if any or deer yet.

Been in the treestand since 6:00 AM, 45 minutes before first light. I had quite a few pic on the cameras. We'll see what develops. Wind is perfect, no rain forecasted. Shots will be 20 and under.

Def. a bat, it just climbed right up the tree behind my head, and is now sitting about 10 ft above me in the tree, that was not cool.
