well last night was just as non productive as yesterday morning. I saw some huge buck tracks and after talking with another guy, found out there is a really big 8 using that property. he pulled camera cards before we left and he texted me last night and said he was roaming the food plots about 30 min before we got to our stands. so close!!

What a noisy walk in this morning!! Figured I scared everything within 50 miles off. But I guess not, 7:45 I had a doe and fawn come in. Sitting in my ground blind, and they came straight in. When they got to about 10 yards the aw the blind and new something wasn't right. They ended up running off, blowing like crazy.. Gun season is open, so I have the CVA out this weekend.

Lone doe just came through. It went wrong from the beginning. She came out about 70yds away, she'd look back every now and then but I couldn't see anything. Starts heading my way so I start maneuvering to get ready. Water bottle comes out of my pocket slaps a branch, then another and thuds to the ground. She stopped but continues coming, about 45yds behind some trees. I think hedge apples(Osage oranges) saved me on that one. She gets to where I shot my buck and stops to snuff the ground, 31yds I know that now, but she's head on. I'm still looking for a buck to step out, not happening. She continues coming, going to come in front of me for a perfect 12yd shot. She turns right, my left and this gives me a 7yd shot. Perfect!

I get drawn back as she's behind a branch with leaves. 7 yds perfectly broadside, loud meh and she does nothing. I'm following her and trying to swivel, meh again and she stops. 10yds broadside quartering away, move my pin up behind her shoulders but it stops at her liver. Open left eye and my top limb is against a 3-4" dead limb. I hold and she walks behind me. Let down and she goes to my weak side and walks off ala 8 point from yesterday.

That adrenaline added to the cold rain and I'm shivering like a leaf. I was ready to go into shotgun season with a valid buck tag. Oh well, back to the grind. Gonna have to sneak down for my water shortly too.

Just had a nosey neighbor ride the property line on his 4wheeler. He was going about .5 mph and focused in on our woods.
