No dice, think he hit the ridge. Came in from behind me, could hear something coming. When I turned to look he was right there 16yds. I froze and he froze, he calmed a bit and turned to head away, had a big offshoot of this oak between us. He's in my weak side so I try to get turned. Get spun 90 and he's perfectly broadside looking straight ahead. If he takes 3 steps towards the woods dead deer running. I'm at full draw but cannot move any further right and have good form. He turns right and starts walking away. I had to let down and grunted. He stopped. Did a couple bleats and he was curious. After that I could only stop him as he walked away. Thought he was going to try circling in. A little midday excitement.

Something is going to die this afternoon. I can feel it in the air.

That buck came in from downwind, definitely a confidence booster and rejuvenated the optimism.

A hypothetical for everyone. Hasn't happened but wondering if it were to

Right now it's looking like the big guys are locked down. So shortly before legal time ends a doe comes out and feeds. He hangs back and watches her. What do you do?

Last thing I would want is to put her on alert. But I keep thinking if you were to grunt he might posture up and come out.

    My imagination is running wild.

Unless they're running late, not looking promising this evening. Fields being a good distance away they generally come through by now. I've got plenty of tracking lights, I'll wait.

Shouldn't have said something was going to die earlier. I jinxed myself

Still hunted back up to the truck. Had 3 in the woods off the trail, 2 on one side 1 on the other. Tried grunting and thought one was coming towards me. Heart started racing, not sure what I'd have done had one busted out and charged lol.

Surprisingly hardly anything in the fields. Guess the early moon has them waiting until darkness to emerge. One more planned full sit tomorrow, hopefully I can make it happen on one more before chit gun season. That would leave me with one late season bow tag. Curious to see what the trail cam shows when I get home.

Nothing tonight here either. Grunted a few times and had movement behind me but couldn't get anything to show before dark. Back at it tomorrow. Need to fill the freezer!
