Little bit of snow sure does open the woods up.

Possibly my last sit in Ohio... we shall see.

About to head out to the stand and its 15 deg with another 2 inches of new snow...sat my first sit of the year last night for the last hour of daylight(after picking up kids from the bus stop) and saw nothing but was lake effect pellets slapping me in the face and 20mph winds...hopefully they move well today and rut has got to start any minute. Saw a spike trying to chase 2 days ago but the short tailed 7 pt. isn't even swollen necked yet and feeding hard. Hope some new big boy moved in because as of yet there are no target bucks around and I'm thinking I may have caught a glimpse of that new big guy on the covert mp6 black but he was just out of flash range(can't be sure on what kind of rack he's got). Oh-well here's to filling an antlerless tag before noon! Good luck all!

Good luck to everyone out there. I am back to work today so I'm gonna need to see the buck down posts from you guys to keep me going. Saw deer in places that there usually aren't deer on the way in to work this morning and almost turned around and called in sick.

Normally about 8 when they come through. About 10 minutes and I'll find out if they're logging today

Snow on the ground. Hunting the 2nd shift today from 10-dark. We have snow on the ground here and I wanted to make breakfast for and hang out with my wife and kids before I hit the woods.

Matt, I am wore the heck out and I told myself if I am miserable I am not hunting. This stuff is supposed to be fun. The extra 3 hours of sleep and a good breakfast with the family gave me some good energy.

    Time to get it done!

I find that taking a morning off here or there really recharges the batteries. Good job Brett. And good luck.

They're logging, but quite a ways off. Other than that, zipping my goatee up in my coveralls has been the biggest downside. I don't reccomend it.

I'll be getting back out this evening after working the last 4 days. Gun season started here in Minnesota last Saturday. 4 bucks that I know of were shot on property's that surround the property that I hunt. One was my target buck (4 year old 140 Incher). The others were all 1.5 year olds. Hard to get age on bucks around here with gun season starting in the prime of the rut. I hate Minnesota's deer regulations.

So whats the prognosis on the rut right now? Last Thursday was my last sit. Bucks were just starting to chase. I know I missed out on some excellent hunting over the last 4 days. That window of opportunity can be small. Good luck all.

Hey Steve, I'm down in South Central Mn, just South if Austin. A few small bucks are chasing, but have yet to see any sign if the big boys. Saturday morning was like world war 3 around here! Then Saturday evening was pretty quiet. No shooting at all in Sunday. And then yesterday it was like the gun season was over. Friday will be my next time out, and I will be hunting the entire weekend.

Man...I hear that. I still feel great most of the time but after handling deer this year, dragging them, loading them, hanging them and processing them....it's obvious I don't work out nearly enough and I don't recover from muscle strain quite like I used to, lol. After handling that buck the other day, I was like one solid sore muscle clear through yesterday, lol.

It's been a very good morning, in fact my best this season. I had 2 bucks chasing each other before light, then a button walks under my tree at 1st light. A spike walks past about 45 min later, then the button comes bk and goes. 30 min later a 10p 130ish comes within 30yds behind trees then decides to start walking away, tried calling him but nothing he only had to walk another 10yds and he would have been in my shooting lane!!! Then the spike comes back 30 min later. I've now come to the car to warm up coz it's way to cold. Will be going bk in once I'm warmed up.
