Small spike in the crosshairs. I wasn't gonna drop him and the wind shifted and he bolted anyway. Was still fun to watch him

Been in stand since 0545, about 30 min before shooting time. Busted one coming in, just had two fawns wander by. Cool,42 degrees, clear sky's, lots of song birds out. Will be waiting for something bigger to come out. Keep everyone posted.Zone 8 NJ.

It's like 45 degrees here I was supposed to go out this morning, but instead I am at home waiting for the Comcast to come fix my cable for the second time this month. Good luck out there fellas!

Bachelor group of four went through at seven with a nice eight leading the way. They met a big buck at the creek and led him in the wrong direction.

Had two fawns come in at about 0700, by 0800 I had enough, the stand location just doesn't seem to be working out for the AM. So, I got out of the climber and headed to a piece across the road to do some spot and stalk. Had a great encounter with a 120" 8 pt. we ended up 30 yds apart when he stopped behind a group of small trees and a doe started busting me downwind. She snorted and blew three times. The bu image.jpg ck just stood there, until there was a wind shift. He put his nose in the air, snorted, foot stomped twice and then walked directly away from me with the small trees between us. Just two more steps and I would have had a shot. Oh, we'll that's stalking. Another 100 yards in I located a doe bedded about 75 yds from me. I put some big oaks between us and stalked to within 50 yds but then was out of cover. Three other deer came and went snorting while I waited for the bedded doe to get up. After an hour I decided to do something. I had to cross about three yards of wide open ground, directly in front of the bedded doe. I just went for it, took me about 15 min but I got across the opening without her reacting. I then stalked 25 yds to another large oak. I drew back behind the large oak and then leaned around the tree. As she came into view. I settled my 20yd pin at the top of her white chest patch and squeezed the trigger. The arrow hit its mark directly between the shoulder blades. She ran 50yds and dropped. There was a great blood trail. The broadhead severed her heart. Took me quite a while to get her out, nice doe 100-110 field dressed.
