Well it seems that the out of town neighbors have arrived. There over there running grunt calls and rattles that sound like gang violence! I m waiting to here them start yelling "here deer" "here little deer" and they will probably be around all week! Yippie.

Had a dang coyote come in and muck up the area. Kissed at it but it just ran around then went in the woods. Seen it as an opportunity to switch stands. Seen a big bodied deer at the other end of a grass/weed field. Crouched down and tried to glass him but binoculars were fogged up. I'd guess him to have been 2 1/2. He moved out of view so I crept forward, and that's when I seen the doe he was with. Got back out of sight line and stood for a few. Seen a deer on the other side of the tree line and figured they moved on. Took a few slow steps and there was the doe, same spot staring at me. Tail goes up, jumps the fence and blows three times.

Disappointing yet encouraging, sitting here in different stand listening to the frost melt like rain and hedge apples drop. I'm feelng it today

Nothing yet except hedge balls and frost dropping. Good morning to be out though if the deer would play along.

Not at all what I expected this morning. Apparently the time doesn't change on the weather channel until 2:00am either. So I got in the stand just after sunrise. I didn't see anything on the way in and was very careful.

The wind has picked up and leaves are falling like rain. Ill stay in until 12:00 today just because.

I did see a nice rub on the way in and did hear grunting so, those were nice to experience.

We were 30 minutes into the sit and I heard my youngest son start coughing. ( I know what that means). He has really bad allergies. Once he starts coughing, he throws up and you have to get him out of the area. Luckily we had an empty corn bag in the ground blind with him and he threw up in it.

Packed up and left. 1.5 hrs to get there, 30 minute sit, 1.5 hours to get back home.

He's bummed. My wife hooked him up to his inhaler. Seemed like there was gonna be some good action today too. I had a buck just walking around grunting for about 10 minutes but i couldn't lay eyes on him, but I think it would've just been a matter of time before he came in.

I told my son that the hunting was gonna be bad anyway.

Me and my other son are gonna head back out in a few minutes to the public spot we've got.

    Lotta drivin' not much huntin'.

First time I've ever been happy that PA doesn't allow Sunday hunting because there's noway I'd make it out with this cold.

Good luck to those that are out.

I am public land only guy. Live in HoCo and hunt at Meade Nat'l heritage asso. The furlough took a chunk out of my hunting days too. I hunt some other HoCo public land too. Maybe next summer I will go knocking on doors.
