Shes been hunting with me for 2 seasons now. Last year she missed a doe during shotgun season and earlier this year she missed a doe on video. It all came together perfect tonight and the video is pretty good, though not for the weak of heart. Ill have it up this week sometime.

    That's pretty cool Caleb congrats.

Didn't end up seeing anything sitting in blind so headed back early knowing I had to cross our bottoms which is a cut corn field and always has deer. Got there and sat until about too dark and was watching a little fork horn ane doe. I scanned back across field with binos and caught glimpse or antlers. By this time was about to dark to see but could definitely make out what looked like a decent rack and a decent sized body. He didn't stick around long before he jumped a fence and went out of sight. Either way got me pretty pumped seeing as first thing besides a spike or fork seen all year. I'll be out in morning trying to get a good look.

Spine shot = not for the faint of heart. She got a section of lung and the broadhead was lodged in the spine. Dropped on the spot. I have to finish it with a knife.

It is a part of being a hunter, remember when I was 14 or 15 and spine shot a deer with my rifle, the doe fell over a bank so we couldn't see her walking up on her, got to the top of it and she was just over the top still kicking and bawling, he said I took the shot I finish her, kind of sticks with you.

So I'm an idiot, I couldn't sleep all night and got the drive started early and figured I could throw a blind together and let it settle for an hour or two before light. Walking in tobget it done fast I spooked a deer and found a trash can lid size scrape and decided to just back bout til its time to hunt. I'm pretty sure the deer will come on by anyways still so not to upset

About to head out and guess what? The only rain in Illinois is pounding me. Like just woke up my wife it was raining so hard? Oh well it will be over soon and the wind should shift to the northwest. I have one stand today that is good for that, so that is where I am heading. Big bucks in '10 and '11 came from this stand? We will see?

In the stand on very calm and beautiful morning. Didn't jump anything on way in and sitting at a good travel corridor. Time to kill!

Good luck to the rest of you headed out this morning.

Get ready to head to the stand soon if Trevor ever wakes up. I might have to go in and make him wake up.

In the blind again today, gonna give it one more go on catching Tiney slipping up again. It was hard to get out of my nice comfy warm bed this morning. But my wife kicked me in the *** an told me to get up, knew I married her for a reason.

Dressed a little warmer today, I got a little cold yesterday, went and bought some of the hot hand insoles for my boots, these things get toasty. I'm probably a little over dressed but when you sit in 40-50 degree weather all day it drops your body temp, so by noon im usually freezing, hopefully not today though.

Good luck to everybody hunting today.

Guess he is not one for getting in stand an hour early and letting things settle.
