I just got off the phone with Tony. He's not sure why he hit high, but apparently he hit high enough that the broad head just sliced the bucks' back and one vane had blood on it from being dragged through the fresh wound.

He's a little beside himself right now, which I can definitely understand given the events of this past weekend on my hunt. He said that he was amazed that there was a buck that big on that property. He's guessing 140" - 150" with a huge inside spread and good mass.

The buck seems to have suddenly appeared and meandered along a trail, worked a scrape and then walked straight to him. At some point the buck turned and was walking away at about a 45 degree quartering away angle. He said that the entire encounter took so long that he wasn't even nervous when he took the shot. He guessed the yardage at about 30 yards, drew, shot and watched the arrow hit high.

I really feel for him right now because that same feeling is fresh in my memory.

Snuck in for a short little hunt. Been rainy and foggy all day, let's see if anything is moving.[IMG]

Man that's rough PT. Maybe the big guy upstairs just has an even bigger buck waiting for you and couldn't let you kill that one :tu:

I got your back Tony. I tell you what Tony, in 2009 I shot and wounded what would have been my first 3.5 or 4.5 year old buck. I could never find him, even after two days. I was so dejected I almost hung it up. Then, my truck broke down the next day. I was miserable. I threw my hands in the air. Well I stuck it out and killed my best buck ever two days after I missed that other big buck.

HANG in there my friend. Hang in there.

Yep, I'm really sorry about this Tony. Like I told you on the phone, the advice I was given by the guys on here after my episode last weekend was to give him a few days to calm down and get right back on him. Like I said, if the rut hasn't kicked in yet and he's still traveling his normal route, you've still got a good chance at him.

We'll both get back after our bucks together, brother. :tu:

I lost a decent 8 pt in 2011 and missed one in 2012. I know the feeling. After the miss in 2012 I bought a range finder. You'll get another crack at him im sure of it.

Awwwwwwww mannnnnnnnn........... PT. I feel for you tonight. Those are hard to think about. But you will. And it will bother you for a bit. And then you will get back out there and you will shoot and kill again. And all will be right with the world again.

Stay thirsty for blood my friend.

In the tree. Little warm out right now, mid 60s but supposed to drop to the low 50s so I am a little over dressed right now, but will be warm later. Chances of rain all day, there is actually a break in the rain now that should last past sun up which may work in my favor. Today is day one of my 9 day vacation in a tree. Had one of the shooters working my mock scrape in front of the stand I'm in 2 days ago, hope he comes back and hits it after all this rain. Good luck everyone

Know how you feel, and I forgot a thermos full of soup at home, plus my small digi cam I use to check cards I pull on the way in, and I lost my yote arrow some where on the way in, don't know if it is at the bottom of my tree or somewhere else.

A bad day can turn good in less than a minute, so keep at it.

Good luck to all who are out today. :tu:
