Cam pulls weren't as good as I hoped due to flooding. July flood really stopped the flow of pics. But I think this is the Trash Buck from last year. First pic is from Mid May....look how much growth and wildness is going on in May. Then that left side starts to grow. He is going to look like an alien and I love it!

I’ve been thinking lately on what my expectations are for this year… I shot my first buck with my bow a few years ago 110” 10pt a few years ago. Since that I’ve always wanted to wait for something bigger.

Now that the Mega was killed I don’t have a deer that I REALLY want to wait for. I had deer the last 3 years in bow range I would have likely taken a shot at if it wasn’t for him. Going to be interesting for me this year.

Are my expectations too high or am I just a glutton for punishment passing real decent deer. I haven’t been in the position of “when you see the deer you will know if you want to shoot” since my first buck with the bow.

Just some random thoughts after some cold refreshments.

Those two bucks you just posted a pic of I would be proud to hunt and shoot.

It’s good to raise the bar on what you want to shoot, but you have to be realistic with what’s available on the property you hunt. Nothing wrong with shooting a good representation of a buck in your area and just roll with it.

I usually don’t hold many bucks over the summer. Honestly if I did I wouldn’t know it because most of my cameras need fresh batteries. I have a couple that were promising.

Hey all, thought I’d share some pics from the north woods. For the U.P., I’m more than pleased with the bucks in the area.
    This is from my 1 acre field/backyard. I love it! IMG_1232.jpeg IMG_1145.jpeg IMG_0951.jpeg IMG_0953.jpeg IMG_0950.jpeg IMG_1230.jpeg IMG_1143.jpeg

Got a dead nuts target. They are life sized 2d targets. They have all sorts of animals. I got the frontal elk to practice that frontal shot that presents itself a lot. Pretty cool for what it is

I was finally able to get out this morning and get one of my stands cleaned up. Lots of apples and beech nuts this yea. Here are a couple of views. As I was finishing up had a doe come to about 20yds to the stand as I was tying up my bow rope. With all the noise I was making I was surprised anything was around. I did not get a pic of the deer if your looking for it in the pics. The big guy I was chasing last season has shown back up - I received a pic from another guy who hunts the property.....I knew he had made it thru the winter because a shed was found down the road this spring

IMG_1485.jpeg I finally broke out the bow and flung a few arrows towards the target from 20 yards. Guess who’s still a natural?!
