My son and I moved a stand yesterday about 60yds from a spot I’ve had for about 15yrs. It’s been a great spot but the tree has been dead for the past couple years the stand was in. The spot was special to me it was a set my cousin put up a long time ago but he’s no longer around so it was kind of tough to move it but it had to be done. These were the best 2 bucks I got out of it after he passed. I’ve killed multiple deer out of that tree almost every year. Miss you cuz. First buck was the year he passed so that one’s pretty special and the last one was an old warrior during gun season 2 years ago. Miss you Warren. YouTube video I posted to my channel @VermontHomesteader. It's about planting one of my food plots on my home property. As of right now only one Buck has shown up and he's not real big, but as explained in the video, my property is a late season food destination.

My oldest passed the Hunter Safety course last night. I need to double check the regs, but, I think this means he can now hunt by himself even though he is still a youth hunter by age. If that is correct, it will be great for the youth rifle season because I can put him in one spot and take my other son to another spot.

Normally that would bother me, not this year. Maybe a late summer mild winter will produce more fawn that make it next year

Definitely check regs. Think here in MD during youth season, the youth has to be with licensed hunter. But think this is only for youth rifle. Then they are allowed to hunt any other weapon seasons alone, even general rifle season.

Well guys, the farm I've been hunting in Ohio for about the last 10 years is no more for me. The farmer contacted me this week and said he and his boys were going to start hunting together, he had recently retired from a local factory and they had never done that before because of a lack of time. I wished him well and thanked him for the years he allowed me there. He said he felt horrible about having to tell me that but I completely understand. I still have an awesome place in here in Indiana but I might start trying to check out some nearby public. Anyway, let's get this party started!

Well, looks like my semi retirement may be coming to an end soon. Now the big decision.

I have a verbal offer from one company and a very excited other company leader)...

Big bank wants to offer me a job making less than I was at my last employer. I have a verbal offer. I know they have some big egos, big challenges, a lot of work, expect a lot, and I've worked for them prior. I know there are huge expectations, I kinda fear it may not be very stimulating and it's a huge (in town) company. Probably little travel other than a possible NYC trip or two. 2 up boss seemed like an aloof wall streeter. I'm now getting the

Smaller bank was very excited about my experience. Boss seems very reasonable, and as transparent as she could be (she rolls up into the COO...said, if needed she'd flip my resume to the CDO). They are a lot smaller, probably have more concerns/problems that I may be able to help solve or help address over time. Position would be remote, but I expect I'll need to travel some. No offer, yet. Likely higher visibility opportunity to make an impact or fail gloriously.

    Hmmm. Decisions, decisions.

    I feel
I feel your pain... I had exclusive rights to 160 acres for about 16 yrs .. then the farmers wife died one summer, the following year he died. (both in their 80's god bless 'em).. the property went to the son who I never got along with... he said I could still hunt there, but his buddies would also now be hunting it (4 of 'em plus himself) .... I stayed for one more year, and since it was in the urban zone, myself and my buddy killed 8 deer off of it the last year I had it to myself, 2 bucks, 6 does... never went back as they flooded the place with ladder stands over food plots I put in years back and screwed it up big time using ATV's on it ...... so from then till now, back to public .... oy vey

Fingers crossed. Headed in to see if this buck blew up. I hope he made a huge leap and I know he survived last season. Have two cams up over about a half mile and have had them up since early May.

    Trash buck.

Today my full time cross bow permission in the entire bow season arrived. I expected some sort of card, because I have to carry proof. All that came in a ripped open envelope was the approveal letter. So we made many copies to carry due to things get wet in bad weather. And I don't want to lose the original. Also took a picture of original. My bow will go to grandson when he's old enough, as his first bow.
