Getting excited for September! Dad heads down next week to spray the plots and we’ll plant mid August. Just got this one from the Tactacam today Image1721432218.112393.jpg

Checking my cams on Sunday. I know 2 cams aren’t taking pictures because of birds getting the lenses. Also weeds are likely a big problem since I forgot the weed whip last time. Was about to pull the trigger on 2 new Tactacams but didn’t. Will probably wait till later in the season since I don’t have the plans activated.

Probably glass the beans a time or 2 the next week. Need to get reps in now that the shoulder is feeling somewhat better.

He’s one the better ones as far as points go. Just don’t think his times are gonna be very long. Could be wrong though We don’t have a lot of giants in Eastern TN. Middle & West TN have much better deer. Better farmland and more flat.

So alfalfa was windrowed yesterday. Which gives it time to get a fresh lush regrowth. Several days now..not a single deer..night light showed only fox or coyote eyes.
I mowed the front upper clover plot after pulling bad weed out of it. So thick it stalled the zero turn with the deck up.
Cut up the downed ash in it. Cut up the downed ash that grazed my garden stand and dropped dead ash that was next to the pop up ground blind. Going out to clean up and section those.

Cameras checked and batteries changed. Activated 4 of my Tactacams so I don’t have to go out there for a while.

Corn is looking amazing. 8-9ft in spots already.

    Starting to get the itch.

    LOL I STILL GOT IT!
tonight while putting chicks to bed I round the outside garden perimiter fence, next to greenhouse and there's a rabbit. Oh no you don't! I pick up a rock and he hops to around 15 yrds and turns sideways. Perfect and I let loose at his head. Well I hit his front shoulder and startled, he tips over, kicks his back legs then pops up and into fence line brush. I pick up another rock and head that way. He's on the other side hopping past me in opposite direction. I leave garden area to get to Gator and there he sits up by fencing trailer. He lets me walk up to 25 yrds and pick up another rock. This shot hit him mid gut and he slowly hopped under the trailer.
2x's in one night! I can't wipe the grin off my face...lol

Checked a couple cams today. One has been up for 2 months. Same as last year. No bucks older than 1 and all doe pics. I may just lay off that spot until rut.

Cam 2 produced. I believe two of these three are the two I jumped 2 weeks ago....

Got to cam 3...deep on an island. Tracks pounded.

But....all my trail cam pic files are weird symbols and don't open. Lol! Have no idea if that can be fixed.

I overlooked this pic. Thought this was cool. Two good bucks coming through the water to the corner of a crop field. Look behind the first buck and you can see the other one trailing him. There is a berm about 100 yards behind them, so I bet they were bedding on that.

My BT SR350 is ready, shooting it 2-3 times a week, BH's/FP's are spot on .. ...... gonna be time to start hand washing all the hunting clothes that will be used for this season ... I do various loads thru the days/weeks leading to the opener in the tub/shower using Sport Wash and then hang outside, when dry, they go in air tight tubs ...

as for scouting, havnt been on the place since April when I was getting 6 new locations ready ... I'll start making weekly trips doing walk by's checking locations when squirrel season opens the 15th/Aug. .. there is almost always 'storm damage' to be assessed and more pruning/changes made if needed...

Well you guys got started early. Just got caught up. Been practicing. Shots are looking good. Planted my last food plot last week. Don't have anything fantastic on camera yet, some of you have Bucks like they were raised on a farm. Absolutely amazing Bucks. Second Saturday in September can't come fast enough. Can't wait to get in a tree.

Been mowing and working in my garden, building a smoke house and residing my barn. A little kayaking and fishing. I started a YouTube channel if anyone is interested, vermonthomesteader. Basically just anything homesteading.

Se ya all in a tree. I'll be doing some video for the YouTube channel.

Got some eyes on a bunch of deer out here. One good looking buck. I could see him being in that 120 to 130 range.
