Put a backup release in your bag. Done that before and it sucks to climb down.

I hope you weren't in your climber. That would really make the situation more frustrating

It was dark. I couldn’t even see it until I got on the ground.

I actually have another Wiseguy release in my pack but I’m kind of attached to this one and don’t like the idea of not having it on.

    Backup? Never heard of her…

Just kidding. I should really think about getting a 2nd one.

I just keep my old one in my pack at all times. Its only for emergency. The 3 top things i drop are, gloves, release, and flashlight. So keep a backup of them in my pack.

It's been a week since I've had a chance to hunt. Hoping to get after my old friend the trash buck this afternoon. It rained like hell lately so I think the water could benefit me by squeezing down movement on the peninsula as they move to the fields. I have the wind that will blow my scent into the water.

I keep a backup release and batteries for my headlight in my pack. Plus an extra battery charge for my phone. Ive been caught out deep many times, looking like a moron as I skirt the water as the only means of finding my way back. haha

That's my situation as well. So far, I have 16 hours on stand (evenings only) and the only deer I've seen was a spike, not a single doe. At this point, I'll be happy just to see that buck I'm after. I imagine my chances will improve when the pre-rut/rut kicks in. I do have a south wind today, which is perect for my location.

LC, that's a real nice buck you got on your cam. Hoping you get a chance at him.

I have a back up in my bag. The same release however I do like the one better.

however it is attached to my wrist. But in the event it would fall I could dig my back up out and my hook to attempt to retrieve it. When day break comes.

the earliest I'll be able to get out is the 4 & 5th ... Wunderground is showing 69 and 66 degrees(Fri/Sat) for the highs with light n/NW breeze (if this holds, which it wont, it prolly will change this far out) .. I dont trust predictions that far out, within 2-3 days yes ..

    Not a one.

I’m back at the house now trying to decide if I want to head to Arkansas tomorrow for the opener Saturday.

Rumor has it that a member of Team 10 put down a doe this morning. Not me, my season doesn't open until Saturday.

I remember one season, where unbeknownst to me the base had an ehd outbreak, plus me sucking as a hunter, and I only saw about 20 deer all year. I hunted over 30 times. Three of those deer came in range and they all died. :)
