It's happening fast here. I'm still in the low 30s at night and 60s during the day. Saw my first frog on Thursday. Will guarantee to see a few big black snakes out sunning themselves this week. Also did a walk yesterday. I was crawling in ticks.

yea, the spring frogs are croaking and peeping already .. still some ice on inland lakes, but this week it should take a yuuuuge hit .. Goonie birds are heading north in large flocks and noisy as heck (Sandhills) .. been hearing rumors about another "polar vortex" coming south late March, damn, I hope not .. once these rivers drop and clear some I'm steelheading ..

Same here. Pollen everywhere. I walked through some of my spots and looked in places I'd never been. It already felt as though the mosquitoes were on the ready....I hate those things

I dont want to fast of a warm up, if the oaks get some nice buds/blooms then a late heavy freeze hits, it will suck for the acorn crop .....

Now's the time for many of use, to derock those trails. Especially if your like us and sitting on shale. Shale loves to frost heave on edge . Besides tripping ,tire slashers. So easy to see and remove now in spring thaw and freeze

So.... no judging ! I just skinned my buck and he's soaking in hot water with a bit of dawn. I said I might do a euro mount but time, weather and health stopped that way back when. As to weather his head had frozen within a day and never defrosted until now. I'll admit smell worried me but the muscle was bright red and there was very little smell other than his teeth.
I'm soaking now but will slow boil him either tomorrow or the next day. Dependent on how I feel after my surgery in the morning..
This will be my second. My first 8 pt one turned out nice. I do them natural so it won't be the stark white most are. 16 " inside 22 and 21 1/2 " main beams 7" , 5 1/2 " 4" and 3 3/4" tines. Thats all that I measured. I normally never try to score my buck, even the bigger ones I've gotten.

80s here today. Cooler weather moving in this weekend. I need to isolate one more productive spot and really look it over good. Spend several half days scouting it. Weird properties around here. Either real flat or real steep. No in betweens.

That future Booner has to live to or past 5.5 yrs old , that’s a tall order around here. Amish and me , I can’t seem to let them go beyond 3.5

If it did then I would miss it, like I did in 2020. Darn BUCK FEVER
