finished up checking stand tree locations today .... four of the five locations are good and viable, but what was a nice double Oak last year is now dead .. drats, as I really wanted to hunt that tree (no others viable either).... dozens of large oaks are dead or sickly looking ... I think it is called oak wilt and I would say all this heat and lack of rain hasnt helped either.. very low acorn production this year ... very very dry where I was at ... hopefully this coming rain will help some, just hope we get it ... wont go back until my first sit sometime in Oct. as weather permits ..
I’m down and back at the house. I saw nothing except for two squirrels. I left everything in the tree for the morning sit and now I’m wondering why. I’ve hunted off and on over there for three years now and I’ve never seen a deer in the morning. I’ve only seen them in the evening. Oh well, I don’t have anything better to do.
Maybe more impressive, he got it solo. Processed it (boneless method) and packed it out, 2 miles each way, 4 trip.
Been using the same wrist strap true fire for like a decade. I should pry get a backup before season starts now that I have seen and replied to this lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That is a thing! No special tag just regular doe tag, and some orange because they can use guns. You’d have to check the counties though!
Coffee! Coffee now! Headed out soon for a rare early season morning hunt. Not expecting much and if nothing shows, I'm relocating for the eve.
Present. Been here, just waiting for it to get light and the phone not glow. The woods are alive, but that crow needs to hush.
I’m late to the party but I too am in a tree, first sit of the year. Had a basket rack under me and two doe around 75yds. Turkey are going nuts! Nice to be back out!!
Gooooood morning LFTS! Just missed a doe....freak! Does only this weekend. Great to be alive. Saw a little buck.
