I guess it's the off season and it it's time for a walkabout on a new ridge property.

I'm going to walk the area in which I shot that buck this year. Check every buck bed within a half a mile.

Found this not 50 yds from last blood. 0 bones. It could be any deer but that's the way he ran. I circled for a long time. Last ditch effort now. Headed into a craphole from where he probably came in from. 1000025619.jpg

After two years they finally gave me a schedule where I have every Sunday and Monday off. Might not seem like much but Ive been running on only two, two day breaks a month for 2 years. Rest of my days were singles over 8 to 10 days. Sucked bad.

Normally I take Fri/Sat's off, we are one guy down (again), since Nov. ... I do the 3-11's, my odd ball week end hrs suck too (2 12's)... this past Fri. I wanted to do a walkabout, but I had to do front brakes (rotors/pads/new calipers) ... still havnt been steelheading either, rivers aint thawing, too cold and will stay cold forat least the next 10 days (teens to single digits to negative again) after wed/thurs heavy snow ....

I had a great schedule to hunt for many years. About 17 years at one point. Those days are long gone.

Need to change your screen name to RoboShadow. Doesn't matter where you are, you are an absolute machine when it comes to scouting and hunting.

    Mad props....

generally, I like this schedule (5 days 3-11) plus fri/sat off, I can hunt before work, run before work in better weather, do errands, etc.... I'll take the OT when it hits, as when I want/need it, it isnt around ..

I worked 12 hr shifts for 5 yrs. Loved my time off. I'd rather work hard and play hard as compared to 8 hr shifts.

I agree. I worked 12hr shifts in the hospital for almost 30yrs. It's great, you actually have time for an outside life.

its the 12's on the weekends I'm not fond of .... back during the covid scamdemic, I worked 265 days STRAIGHT ... no days off at all, both 8's and 12's and several doubles .... now, with a quick turn around on Mondays and to allow time off for my guys also, I get 3.5-4 hrs sleep in 38 hrs before my regular shifts start during the week .... no one wants to work the swing shift, so I/we are stuck (again) covering with what I have and I have to cover 168hrs with just 3 guys each week ....
