Headed to NJ for a Thursday afternoon hunt. Will be here through Sunday evening. Everything is on the menu. Looking for 2 Doe and an antlered Buck. Not gonna be picky. Season closes February 15, but I won't be back before then. So this is it till September.
Im up for the evening. This might be my last hunt of the season, but never know. Have til February 3 here. I went all or nothing on this sit. There is a buck in this bedding. Dont know how big, but i dont care. Just having some fun and hope to shoot 1 last deer. Seem to got in clean. I should be 75 yards from him right now. Just need him to come this direction tonight.
2hr hunt, better than nothing. Can see 150yds, should be able to see them coming. Hunting the local WMA. Squirrels are moving. Saw several deer on the way here. Spoke with a nice young man in the parking lot. He's about 300yds from me. Light wind is good. Still a little snow on the ground. Good luck Holt and anyone else in the woods.
Had 2 does get under 20 yards. The lead one knew something wasnt right. Walked around in circles for 5 minutes trying to decide if she wanted to come past me. Turned off and walked back. The other followed.
No deer seen for me this afternoon. Try again tomorrow. Rainy day coming. Tree umbrellas save the day.
I'm tied in. Icy at 33deg. It's shooting time. Tree branch had fallen in my trail to the stand. Made it challenging and not so quiet to get in. But I'm here. It's thick. Let's see what comes in to bed up.
Doe and Fawn came into 30yds but in the thick stuff. No shots available. Really only Buck hunting at the farm though I might shoot a skipper here. Couple Bucks on camera that I'd shoot.
Another amazing fall whitetail season is in the books and this thread was great as usual. I slacked this year on here, but I still followed along and didn't miss too much. Now for the off season grind.
I had to make some moves at work for them to improve my schedule and they obliged. That will give me some options to travel come fall. I'm going to branch to one or two large public land spots with some ridge habitat. Give me some options to really dig in and focus when my swamp spots become tough.
I've been in since 1330, trying to beat the rain coming at 4. Tree umbrella or not, I'll probably get rained out before end of shooting time.
I just got on stand in Ohio about 20 minutes ago. Hoping for a last day of the contest miracle. Season ends on Sunday and I don’t quit until I have to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
