They have cheap springs that will either lock up and not move, or, get weak and move to much. I have dealt with the same issue. If it locks up and won't open, WD-40 or some other lubricant should get it going. If the spring is shot, get a new release.

More weekend warrior elk hunting fun this weekend. Just got to get through the workday today.

Great effort LC and Holt. It sucks to hit them bad, we've all been there and know how sh***y that feels.

wl, pics of the big bull are mandatory!

Good luck to everyone out this weekend. Hope to see several variations of "arrow launched" getting posted.

I'm waiting too. He has scant signal to even text, images may arrive tonight.

He got it broken down yesterday and hauled 1 meat load last night. 2 miles each way and thinks he has at least 3 more round trips today.

I got curious about what midges look like so I looked them up, I never realized what they actually were. I used to get bit by those muddereffers all the time when I fished Lake Monroe in southern Indiana. Their bites would always turn into little blood blisters. I still have scars from them.

Thank god EHD hasn't jumped species or this would've been me

Nah, I’m actually feeling okay this morning. A little weak and tired, but doing okay.

I got up, got some coffee and plopped down in my recliner. Elly May is in the recliner next to me snoring.

I’m actually trying to figure out where I want to hunt this afternoon and tomorrow morning.

I’d really like to make the 30 minute drive to hunt the National Forest but I think that’s unwise since the wife is in Maine and I don’t have anyone to call if I need help tracking.

Well, the horses and dogs are fed so I’m going to get geared up and get on stand about 5:30.

I need to pull my climber and move to the other finger off the main ridge. I figure that buck won’t come back through there soon and that other finger is one of his travel paths.

Who knows? Maybe he will travel that way this evening or maybe a doe will mess up and walk into my “20 yard circle of imminent death”.

It’s gonna be a hot sit, but I want to have my stand in a good spot for the morning sit.

Hello LFTS long time reader first time typer (this year). Michigan early doe weekend starts tomorrow morning! I can’t freakin wait to be up in a stand when the birds start chirping in the morning instead of building specialty automation machines.

I’m set up in a new spot. The sun was hot walking in but as I was climbing up it clouded up and I heard thunder.

A pop-up thunderstorm is coming. Radar says it’ll miss me but I never know. I just know it cooled off in a hurry and it’s pretty dark.

    Let’s see what happens.

Thanks. I don’t know what to expect here but at least I can hope. I’d take a doe right now.

wait, that's a thing? You need a special tag for that? I'm heading to Montcalm County tomorrow mid day to check some cams, be nice to sit for a few hours. I'd love to stick one early.

This is just great. Good chance of rain fight at dark.

I’m torn on whether to get down now and walk out at prime time or risk hunting until dark.
