Maybe, but I suspect it’ll be a while before that buck travels that area again. He’s a mature one.

He may have been out to shift out of his summer range into a different area for the fall anyway. You had a shot, you took it, unfortunately, it did not work out. He will be back around at some point bucks don't get to be mature by being stupid. You will see him again.

Stopped to talk to a client/landowner that let's me hunt his farm. He said they've found nearly 200 dear dead in the river behind his property, suspected EHD from this drought we've had. It's getting pretty bad in some spots. I've elected to not hunt that property this year, no need to take anymore genetics out.

200 dead deer? That sounds suspiciously high, even with EHD.

I gave my poor teacher a fit! He knew his class was what would or not give me the state Regent diploma. I have a feeling he may have put the fix in on my passing the exam ...lol
I'll never forget him rushing through the cafeteria to tell me I passed and shaking my hand as the crew round my table clapped...lol I was so embarrassed at the time. Math, science, history,English no sweat. Getting 8 fingers going in different directions at once with out looking!...shoot me now. As you can see I can't get one finger in the right place, staring down the screen..lol

Back at it in chicken coop blind, wearing my lucky hat, it was a gift. Have to wear orange in any gun season. This is an ALL weapon season. First time hearing gun shots one road over.

I thought so as well. He said some group put kayaks in the river and floated a few miles and that is what they reported, who knows the accuracy but it's reported from DNR as one of the hardest hit areas in the state.

I’m feeling quite a bit better. I was sitting here a while ago thinking I could feed and water the horses, feed the dogs and get back in a tree this afternoon.

By the time I finished feeding and watering the horses I barely felt up to feeding the dogs.

Guess I’m going to take some down time.

it is also the 4 counties with the highest deer kill every year, those NE counties... 2800-3000 + in each of those counties ... ... 200 does sound high ... need pics to confirm ... I'll be back out tomorrow checking my last 5 stand locations ... dont think I'll be around water this time ... I'll still keep my nose sniffin' for dead critters ..... gonna be very hot, another 88 deg. day ... a slight chance of rain next week, what comes down will be instantly absorbed by the top ground layers ... we need days of steady rain .... the water levels are low right now for the waterfowl guys ... wild fire is a hazard also

Wow compared to this morning it is dead quiet here. Well save the skeeters trying to drain me and the chair any time I move squeaking.
Strange , this wood lot has a slew of beech, basswood,a few oak, hophorn and bramble.yet no chippers and few a squirrel. No birds chirping or calling...a tad creepy

growing up, I never would've thought I'd feel this way, but I miss living in NE Indiana. Some beautiful terrain.
