8p, it was going to take something special for me to not shoot my target and he was!! I’ve always wanted a 130”+ clean 8p and I think he’s 140”.

Ok I’ve backed out. All the blood looks good just not going to risk pushing. I followed the blood trail about 100yds into the field then nothing. I left the arrow but didn’t get a picture. The pic shows where he ran and the tip of the arrow is where I last had blood. I did check around in the field only but that’s it. I’ll be back tomorrow to carry on the track. That's a dead deer!! :hail: Looking at that blood, I'd be surprised if he made out of that field. I'll be up early waiting for an update, AND some pics!! :tu:

Edit: I told you it's going to happen!

How did the shot look? Yardage, angle etc.. Arrow look good?

Hard to tell anything with the blood pic, looks like artery/muscle blood by the amount of blood and placement.

First light will tell the story. From that blood, I'm confident you'll find a dead deer, even if he did make it out of that field. My glass is always half full.

So here is the crazy story. I didn’t have chance to post it as it happened coz it was nonstop. So I was in the new stand when I see 2 does and 3 8p behind me cross a big field at 165yds that’s when I 1st seen him. At that point I was impressed with him but wasn’t convinced until I got a better look. Not expecting them to come my way I carry on looking around when about 10min later a spike crosses the big field almost the same route. All this was about an hour before I posted about him bedded. So I’m happy with my sightings I’m still looking for my buck to maybe cross. About another 10 min go by and a 8p walks behind me going back across the field as I’m watching him 2 does follow and the other 2 8p all walk behind going bk across the field at 30-40yds. That’s when I get a better look at him and I’m thinking I want him if I’m given the chance. So they all disappear bk into the woods they originally came from. I’m super happy with the new stand seeing movement like this so early in the day. Yet again about another 10 min goes by and a small 8p comes under my tree so I’m watching him and he has no idea I’m right above him taking a video lol. I look to my left and that big 8p comes back across the field at about 20yds and I can’t do anything coz he’s on the other property but that’s how I got that pic of him I posted. They both go to the fence that I showed earlier and the small 8p jumps over onto my side. By this time I’m trying to get my bow but the place they jump is 10yds to my right with a evergreen between us. I managed to get my bow and I’m ready just need to draw. The small 8p is now in front of me at 10yds and he knew something wasn’t right. The big 8p is just looking over the fence and I know it’s going to be risky to draw if he does jump. Well over 10-15min the small 8p is walking around looking at me but doesn’t spook. Now the big 8p has walked off away from me and I can’t see him due to limited view with the tree. I managed to sit bk down but still had my bow in hand while I watched the small buck slowly making his way away from me. While he did this I seen movement to the right and I see the big 8p had jumped the fence and was stood there looking around and then decided to lay down. The small buck then disappeared over the hill and you guys now the rest of the waiting game. So with about 15 min of light he stands up as do I. He very slowly makes his way towards me up the path I drew earlier then went behind a small evergreen and that’s when I drew. He took a few more steps and I let it fly. He was 15yds quartering towards me. He jumps and runs. Now that’s when the big twist comes. After I lost sight of him I decided to climb onto the tree next to me to get a better view to see where he is going. (The tree is 1ft from my stand with lots of branches) as I do this I’m looking to the left to grab them I see my target buck walking towards me at about 50yds!!! He immediately snorts turns and runs!!! I swear you couldn’t make that up!!! While it was definitely disappointing at the time I’m excited for the one I got. I would never kill I deer I wouldn’t be happy with and he made me excited to get him. I’ll be out tomorrow to take up the trail and close this chapter.

That's an unreal story! You're right, you couldn't make that up! lol He has to be known as the Phantom Buck from now on. Can't wait until tomorrow to hear the closing chapter. Best of luck on the track!

I don't know anyone who has hunted as hard as you have this season. I pray you find the buck in the morning. Great job making a move!

I couldn't agree more! That's the main reason I've been on his team from the start. He's as serious a deer hunter as you'll find, and I respect that, big time!
