That is possible, but I’m fairly certain I didn’t hit my sleeve. While not perfect, my form isn’t bad and the Stratus jacket is designed not to be bulky.
Your broadhead have expandable blades? I have had them depoly in flight and sound funny. And they never hit where I was aiming either.
Send me luck Wind is freight train level out of the West. It stayed in low 30's all day they should be hungry as they move. Not a lot left in this plot. No idea on movement due to no card in cam last few days.though a few sets of tracks when I did card it. I think this morning though...
I had that happen one time with a CB bolt. It made a strange noise on release, and I ended up making a poor shot on a nice 8pt out in Ohio. Luckily, that buck survived, and was killed by another of my guide's (private lease) hunters. It was a result of me not checking how secure the vanes were on my bolts. There were pretty old, and the glue had dried to the point they didn't have a good hold, allowing it to come off. I check vanes every time I hunt now.
He walked past me and down wind of blind...returned trotting flag up. Stopped looked around then trotted off down laneway tail up, no snorts, if the ladies were in eye sight there goes the hunt.
I’m back in a tree. I moved 70 yards north to a spot I’ve never laid eyes on before. I just assumed it was thick over here too but it’s much more open. Hopefully some of the does will do the same thing tomorrow morning and walk right through here. I guess one could walk through this afternoon but I’ve not been seeing anything in the afternoons lately. Also, I got up in the tree and saw this. It would excite me if I had a buck tag.
Hunted cornfield tonight. Nothing closer than 260. I'll be back tomorrow. Johnny...I'll agree...hit your sleeve
Saturday it's supposed to rain all day. Thinking of scouting a half day. Cruise the waters edge for a mile or two. See how they are using that island to cross to the main food. Develop a plan to try and take down a Dec or Jan buck. Never done it.
I like it, that’s my plan also to take one down. I too have never done it or put much emphasis on it, giving it 100% this year. Just finished a job outa state and I’m back home now. I feel like It’s the beginning of the season again. Looking forward to learning about these late season bucks.
Dang LC, sounds like a Sleeve hit with string with the low shot. Glad it was a clean miss, your gona shoot one tom am.
If LC can locate that arrow in the tall grass, it might help solve the mystery if fletching was the culprit.
As a matter of fact I did find the arrow after I got down and walked out. It was perfectly intact and so was the nock. If it hadn’t been a strobing Nockturnal I’d have never found it. It was BURIED. Even in the dark I could barely see it blinking. On another note, I did see three deer this sit and I passed a 30 yard shot 10 minutes before dark. Two does came trotting in from the area I was hunting this morning and then fed by at 30. It was pretty dim and to be honest, I’m a little gun-shy now. I was second guessing everything, including (and most importantly) were there small limbs in the way? Plus, I’m hunting so far back in there that if it had been a slam dunk shot I might have passed. I’d much rather kill one in the morning so I don’t have to destroy a spot recovering a doe after dark. Besides, I’ve manage to screw up some slam dunk shots lately. I’m looking forward to the morning sit.
Just 2 does this morning that’s it. I think I’m going to switch it up tomorrow. The left side is what I can see in the stand I’ve been in. The right side will be what I can see from the other stand. I’m going to hunt the left side until 11:30 then switch to the stand in the right side for the PM
Okay, okay. I’ll concede now that that is the most likely cause, although it would be the first time it’s ever happened to me that I know of.
