finally got into one of the locations I couldnt during the Vac. due to wind directions... today it finally was w/sw and it paid off ... had a busted rack 7 pt 2.5 yr old, aprox. 150 lb come in feeding along a small ridge n to s, got to 48 yds after and about 1/2 hour and turned and came down the ridge to 31 yds broadside, .. hit was high, broke the spine, put him down fast, had to get another arrow in him ... it was over in seconds ... he was all beat up, gnarly gash all puss filled on his forehead, busted tines, ripped ears .. I'm happy, fresh meat for the freezer... now to try for a decent Doe ..
Could see some snow along with cold temps starting Turkey Day next week. Snow is 50/50, cold is 100%. I've killed one deer this year, but second will be with a crossbow. 1st was with my truck late April, 1st time hitting a deer.... err.... actually it hit me
Up and getting ready. Have only seen one small Buck this trip. Pretty sure they are all locked down and the Doe are just not moving much and if the right Doe doesn't come by then no Bucks. Or they have just all run off the farm someplace else. Time to try agin.
Congratulations Ash, tdk and 0317. I’m up and getting some coffee down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Small Buck at 80yds. Not sure what he was, maybe basket 6. Grunted and wheezed at him but he didn't care, all he did was stop, look and then went about his business.
