Congrats! Not sure what I am looking forward to more. The story of your hunt and the kill, or the story of getting him back to the house Difficulty seems to have a knack for finding you
Thanks guys , well he was the first thing that showed. He crested the ridge 91 yrds away and it was a spot I'd zeroed in on a few days ago. I gave him a chance to get closer and as he hit the edge of spring pond I took an angle toward me shot. He had moved foreward and I dropped him. It was a spine shot and by the time I was half way to him he got up and tried to get away I shot in a hurry ,missed then ran and shot him in The shoulder he passed as I got to him. I honestly had no idea the size of his rack. Just saw a decent body and the glint of one beam. I was pleasantly surprised. Though he feels lighter than my bow buck.. Thanks for putting up with me another season...
I don't have any good pics it was raining and I needed to get him done. OMG it took.me forever. I just couldn't work my hands in him to get him gutted. Then nearly flipped Gator in to pond trying to get him out in the wet snow. Here's one that's better, I took it just as I walked up on him and then he closed his eyes and died. Hate spine shots, is what it is.
Even though it has been a rough year, I don’t give up easily. Chances of getting a buck after the gun season is tough, but I will keep trying. Also if a doe comes in range, she will be in trouble also.
