So would I, but to be honest I’d much rather see me sitting behind that buck I’ve been watching for weeks.
You know me: That could very well happen. I have no problem launching an arrow at anything that makes my trigger finger start to itch.
Update. Spent a few hours just looking for any blood and my arrow. Nothing. But from what i remember seeing was it was a far back shot, hit right in the crease of back leg. It was just slightly higher than mid body, maybe 1 or 2 inches from center line. The arrow was angled up into body cavity. Had what looked like about 12 inches of arrow sticking out. My arrows are 31 inches long, so 18-20 inches of arrow in him. Think it is straight guts. This was off what i thought i saw and feel about 90 percent confident thats what happened. If so, he is a dead deer. I will be back in the morning to find him. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Okay. Just checking. Those thin synthetic gloves actually cool your hands and treated with permethrin they repel mosquitoes.
I hope you find him, but I have to wonder what stopped your arrow from passing through if you only hit gut? I was thinking maybe he was slightly quartering to you and you hit the offside femur. I’ve made a lot of shots and didn’t realize the deer was quartering. I mean, something solid had to stop your arrow.
He was broadside, with maybe a slight quartering away. When i shot, he jumped out of his skin. He lunged forward and turned, believe he was extremely quartering away. Dont think the arrow came out the other side, but it all happened so fast. My first reaction was i hit that artery, but the angle of arrow would make that impossible. Hopefully i find him right away tomorrow and find out. Also with no blood, makes me think guts also. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
The “no blood” is probably because there was no exit wound. When they “turn inside out” at the shot it’s so difficult to tell what actually happened. That happened to me on a doe a few years ago. I was sure I’d hit her like you, far back with the arrow lodged in the offside shoulder. When we found her after a massive blood trail I had only hit her hind leg at the joint at the bottom of the femur. I had all but amputated her hind leg at the joint. It was hanging by a strip of hide. You may find him dead pretty close if the arrow buried in the offside shoulder with no exit. Oh, good luck sleeping tonight brother. You know that I know.
Thanks!!! Cant wait to go to bed, haha. Im surprised i even hit him at all. There reaction is just so fast. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Me too, having a hard time finding anyone to help. Its like everyone has to work on a Tuesday or something! Lol Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I think so. But this is the same place as that buck from a few years ago. You know the one that took me 17 days to find him. Just imagine 50 acres of almost un walkable thicket, and cant see farther then 10 feet. It will be interesting for sure Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I remember. If that arrow went in at extreme quartering away who knows what it hit. Hopefully it's something that puts him down quick.
