No deer for me this evening. Be back in 2 weeks. Put a cell cam at my private farm Buck stand. If they come through every couple days I'll hunt the bigger Bucks. If not, then I'll go hunt the county park, oaks falling everywhere. Time will tell. Good Luck with the early season hunting everyone.
No bulls called in this weekend. We got on the bull that I located saturday evening first thing Sunday morning. Had him answering cow calls really well, so we stayed with those. Got positioned and setup underneath him about 150 yards or so. Then some other hunters heard him bugling and slipped in above him and started trying to bugle him in. The thermals were still coming down and he ended up winding them. Such is public land hunting. We spent another couple hours prospecting but couldn't get another bull to be vocal. Will try again next weekend.

Gimme a couple hours and I'll be up in a tree to kick off my 24 season. Headed to the nearest white oak on a bench. No clue if I'll even see a deer. Let's boogie.

Thank goodness I didn't listen to the weather channel for my wind. No pin oaks dropping or even forming. I'll check the bur oaks on the way out. Let's do it.
