Like a partial spine shot. It looked as if my bolt went in right under his spine.

And I just saw my first deer. Small forky. SIL had big one at 100 yds no shot. He's tore up. Told him to be patient that he might get another chance.

Ok. How long was he on the ground before he got up?

About 20 seconds. When he first got up it looked almost as if he was dragging his back legs.

You have a nice rifle. Possibly built in my hometown.

If you hit under the spine, you'll get him.

If you hit above the spine, he'll live.

I learned my lesson and started turning the left antler backwards. A lot less busted up hands doing it that way for me (at least with the set of antlers I’m using).

well Vac. #2 is up, gun opened today and the deer woods wont be the same after this weekend (I dont share the woods with gun guys, I wont go back out for a week or so and it all calms down)... sat 7 of the 9 days of Vac. #2 and it was once again slow and warmer than normal and wind directions SUCKED !! Never could get into 3 of my better locations, need s/sw winds and those never showed (there were a lot of easterlies, not many northerlies) ... did finally see two 'shooters', closest was 54 yds, had several small bucks (1.5yr olds) with in killin' range and passed.. didnt see squat for adult Does, did see several buttons and doe fawns.... and finally had two nice bucks w/Does cross in front of me on the drive home in the evenings ... human pressure was more than past years, 3 times I had other guys walk in or saw humans when I was up in a tree .. (a good day is when I dont see, hear nor smell another human), there were more trucks in parking spaces than Ive saw before.... those I did talk to said the same, low deer sightings, too warm, to much pressure, etc. .... I'll go out again in the archery only area in a week or so... the fat lady isnt singing ... yet

Brothers back is killing him. We got out of the box blinds and he brought me to a ladder stand on the edge of a swamp. It’s a bow stand… extremely close quarters. It is WINDY. Had a dead tree blow over 30yds from me already.
