    Always something it seems.

My platform is completely covered in ice. Rubber boots squeaking like crazy. Used my hands to try and melt a small section.

Went to the neighbors who connects to our land for a beer last night to check out the deer his family got yesterday (one that shot mega last year). They got two 4pt and a doe. He goes “I hope you’re not mad we killed the small deer. My wife has never shot a buck yadda yadda.” Told him come on man. I’m not going to fault anyone for killing anything. You work hard for your land kill what makes you happy. We did a cheers and I told him he’s helping me drag my buck out today.

ANYWAY… while I was there I stepped in something. No idea what but it stunk. I took my boots off when we inside to look at Megas mount. Still had my gloves on. I didn’t realize till this morning but my god this smell is repulsive. Might need to go gloveless today.

Enough rambling. Time to sit in this fog and wait for light. Can’t see maybe 50yds.

I've had deer do really weird things when it's dark. Some times spook, other times totally chill.

One morning I wandered into a new spot, sat at the base of a tree, and just after turning off the headlamp 3 deer got up, all bedded within 20yds and wandered off...I never saw them when I got there...

One 3pt so far, read the script perfect, just need the big one to do that. Can’t see nearly as much from this tree but this is where a lot of the deer I saw the past three sits crossed.

Almost go time, been watching 4 squirrel , Bluejays l'm checking on how much movement I can make. Coyotes behind house from 3 to 4 were VERY BAD.
8 a.m. arrival of deer is almost here, if they stay on track. We'll see if coyotes changed that.

I had some chasing going on a few moments ago. They were in some thick stuff about 75yds off so I couldn't see exactly what it was. I could just see flashes of deer running back and forth. I hope it's a sign of things to come

Very calm here. Just had two does pick up my trail in and blow, haven't had that happen in a while, just very still and foggy. Hunting a bottom today. [IMG]

Just had a small buck chase a doe past me. They ran on and about 20 seconds later another buck comes running through on the same path. He suddenly stopped and headed back the direction be came from. Then he stops again like an dog trying to pick up a track. He must've picked it up because he then turned headed in the direction of the first two deer. It's on!

I'm guessing there might have been a buck tending that doe. I had that happen to me one time going in while it was still dark. I flushed two deer close to my stand, one went one direction and one went the other. They didn't run far though. I thought since they didn't run away together, it might have been a buck with a doe. Sure enough, a half hour after it got light I had a doe come past me with this freak buck following. I put an end to his lady chasing.

I've had that happen before with headlamps. They just don't seem to do much, I'd assume cause they are blinded. Good way to get out of a tree when surrounded.

The joys of hunting public land.

Yesterday I found a great looking spot to put my son. It’s about a half mile walk down a road where no motorized traffic is allowed.

He hunted it yesterday and didn’t see anything. This morning, about 5 minutes before first light a side by side rode up that road, parked 80 yards away from my son and the guy walked right to him carrying a climber.

My son flashed his light and whistled. The guy sighed and walked past my son, walked down the point the deer would probably come up and climbed a tree 100 yards away from him.

With his side by side parked on the road within view he effectively cut my son off both directions deer might travel.

Nothing moving here yet. Beautiful morning though. Was 28 and a light breeze. Now it's 29 and the sun is on my back.

That might be the case, but I still believe a deer associates a light at ground level in their woods, with a human. It's a very rare day when I use/need a light to get to my spots, even with a new moon.

I would be contacting law enforcement and tell them to get there ASAP to catch him in the act. That kind of stuff shouldn't be allowed.

That sucks! Some folks don't know the first thing about ethics. Or, just simply don't care.

Amazing that people who hunt like that think they will kill deer. Lazy, crazy and stupid, can't fix those problems unless you are mature enough to acknowledge when those problems exist in yourself. I hope he kills a big one while he is there.
