I'm guessing you mean Bucksnbears? He's not been active here all season. I think another member said he's active on Iowa forum, maybe. Idk. Hate that another member is Mia.

He's active on the iowa whitetail forum. Shot a darn good buck with his bow a week or 2 ago.

My cheese stick and black pepper triscuit lunch was interrupted by what I thought was a loud grunt. Maybe it was just my stomach.

Back to regularly paid programming of sitting and watching.

Oh yeah. They've already been poking around asking lots of questions locally since I killed my buck on Tuesday. I better not catch them pushing any of my properties.

About the time of day where my attention span starts to decrease and I cannot sit still. Takes about 5 hours of head turning before I start to get careless with my movement. On my phone more than I should etc. About 2pm I start to lock in again.

Question for you guys that do your own processing. I picked up my buck today and they said it looked like he was shot last year with an arrow that hit him in the hind quarter. They said the whole hind quarter was pretty much toast so they just tossed the whole hind quarter. My question is how much meat, pound wise do you think I lost there. Most of you saw my buck, he was pretty good sized. Without that whole hind quarter I still got 72 pounds.

I expect to get about 40% of field dressed weight returned in boneless meat. If you got 72 pounds....seems great.

Does the 72 lbs, include any added fat/pork, etc? I would say a rear 1/4 would get 10-15 lbs of meat if memory serves me correct. Have processed a couple of 150 lb hanging weight deer and got around 70 lbs of meat. Don't recall the exact buck you shot but must have been a good sized one

My buck weighed 175lbs field dressed and without his head, they told me roughly 80lbs is what I should expect to get back. I'd say you're right in the ballpark, heck they might have given you more than your deer yielded if they really threw the hind quarter out.
