Son update Good news 3 fractures BUT none of them are all the way through. So no surgery. That said. Any pressure will definately change that. He has to behave and stay off it completely if he doesn't want surgery and many month recovery and pain.
Man, don't log in for a day and a half and I had 200+posts to catch up on. Congrats to you killers Glad @virginiashadow is alive LMAO @cantexian for "Spiderman kiss" I've only seen does and fawns last night and this AM. Heading into the swamp here in a few. Good luck everyone
I'm not trying to be anything here other than serious question Are you worried about road grim and exhaust with deer that have already been gutted? I know you can wipe off / clean off stuff but my brain is going full Robot from Lost in Space "DANGER Will Robinson" am I just being dumb? great deer by the way
Several years ago, the morning after shooting a doe the previous evening, I watched a buck come in a sniff around the gut pile. It didn't phase him in the least. Deer die in the woods all the time of natural causes. I doubt a gut pile bothers them unless scavengers are on it.
Ok Guys I'm doing a rotational potty of dogs. Crating all and headed out by 4. That will give me to the 4:51 sunset and then 5:21 legal after. I found another new rub behind and left of blind @$#-$÷#$$% one of my good young apples. That makes 7 in that rub line and a 3x4 foot old scrape opened up and hanging branch broken. Should have gotten that on cam but didn't? 40 yrds directly across from blind. Good luck out there.
No it was cold outside already. I also do not have to travel far. Lots of people been using these cargo holders for many years without concern.
the question had to do with an open chest cavity being on the hitch mount platform right behind the tires and exhaust
Alright well here is the low down on what occurred yesterday. I parked at 0430. Got setup at 0530. Heard a deer walk by me shortly after. starts getting light out and heard deer walking towards me. I see the doe first and on her tail is the buck. She comes to 15 yards if that and just starts feeding on acorns. The buck pegs me and just stares at me for what felt like forever. Hes grunting and stomping while looking at me. He would not leave the doe. She begins to feed away and he takes a few steps behind a tree and gives me an oppurtunity to draw my bow. He is at 20 yards broadside. Let it rip and shot looked like I center punched him good. He runs 40 yards then stops, Doe trots to 25 yards broadside and I sent an arrow at her. She drops and I had to put a second arrow in her. This was all at around 0650 in the morning. I decide to take my time since it was cold out and leave and grab food before the long day were to begin. What I thought was going to be quick work turned into a full day of crazy. I head back in around 930. Pick up the track on the buck. He crosses a few drainages and goes up and down several hundred feet of elevation. I get 500 yards in and come up to a bench. I decide to peek over since I am trying to figure out how he went so far. He jumps up blows several times and takes off. This is now 11. I back out again and grab reenforcements. Back in at 2 and we pick up the trail. He goes around a very large hill and as we are working up the backside of it he appears bedded right in front of me at 20 yards. I did not have an arrow knocked and we just stared at each other. He takes off again for about 40 yards and beds. We played cat and mouse 4 more times of him running and bedding while I was trying to get a second shot on him. Finally as I am walking up to where he is I see him bedded down at 20 yards. He has his head down and ears pinned back so I would not see him and I would walk by. I draw and shoot. He ran 20 yards and pilled up. The rest is histoy. It was absoltuly crazy getting him up and out of the ridges we were on to get him out. Took us several hours and got back well after dark. Glad I was able to close the chapter on him. Was a full day of adventure. Scored him just at 130 but he is missing about 4 inches of a broken tine. Probably my biggest buck to date as I have never scored many of the bucks I have killed over the years. He is for sure my widest with an inside spread of 19 2/8ths.
That is an awesome story. I'm glad you stuck with it and was able to finish him off. Congrats again!! Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
