Just had 2 of the most horny little bucks I’ve seen this season chasing a doe. It was full out sprinting.

5 YEARS AGO i hit a doe from the ground low and forward. It took out her leg bone and exited the front of brisket.. It looked like a massacre, literally like buckets of blood were splashed through the woods. I tracked that easily a 1/4 mile before it dried up.She made it to a common bedding area so tracks were everywhre and all directions Her running UP HILL.
She showed up the next spring fawn in tow 3 legged. Mind you snow on the ground and remained cold, which make survival easier, infections considered

Have any of you seen a scrape made in an open green area no trees near by? I know it's a deer scrape because of the prints. All turkey scratchings are a ways away and way bigger with distinct turkey prints and no nowhere near as deep. I was thinking made during a challenge/ fight?[/QUOTE]

I have a couple where I hunt that are in open CRP. No trees around but there are deer trails that intersect. Might be smaller bucks trying to figure things out, I'm not sure. Never hung a camera up to see what was using it

This year I found 2 scrapes in the middle of a picked cornfield on a grassy trail. You can see the antler lines and tracks....so it does happen

Second buck, just over the crest. Antlers wider than ears was all I could see.

Just had 3 big does out about 100 yards. One came by me at 50 not sure where the others went. She headed in the direction the buck went before first light

One of those 3 ended up being a button buck, he came along 10 minutes after mom and bedded down 25 yards beside me. I did see some running around when I first saw the does, hopefully that was mom kicking him out because she’s coming into heat. That could make this sit really interesting

Took a stroll in the direction the last buck was moving...2 fresh scrapes and a bunch of rubs. I'm now about 60 yds downwind...

The rubs don't pop, but most of those saplings are pretty recently worked.
