I just told him looks like muscle blood to me. He finally gathered himself enough to think he hit low and forward. I hate to tell him but thinking not lethal any time soon.
I still like to go back to the 2016 LFTS and relive it that morning it went down. Still gives me goosebumps when i read about it. Just cant believe its 8 years ago.
Lots of things going n here. OND sorry to hear abut your son hoping for a speedy recovery. LC good luck on the track are you near home where you can get the wonder dog? Son and I went to the turkey shoot at one of the local sportsman clubs. We just went for the breakfast but didn’t shoot. Went out after to to possibility move a stand I haven’t hunted in 2 year. I have never seen a deer from that stand only had 1 on camera but it was a good one. We get there today and it’s tore up.m3 different ground scrapes and 3 different rubs from 5yds to 35yds from the base of my stand. The scrapes are not big but I’m thinking this spot might be worth a sit next Saturday the opener of firearms. Just waking back up now after our walk to the stand came home and all the beer in the house fell into my mouth.
I knew the hit was forward for a quartering away shot but I was convinced I had hit the on side lung. No bubbles but a really good bright red blood trail for a long way and then it dried up. She wasn’t traveling like a mortally wounded deer. She was going up and down ridges and we never found a bed. We tracked her for just over 3/4 of a mile before the blood totally disappeared. This is what we started with:
Definitely looks like she is dripping out of 2 sides. That is alot of blood. Hard to say. Kind of leaning towards muscle blood.
Just read up on this story. Hoping and praying for the best possible outcome!!! Things like this happen when least expected.
that sounds and looks exactly like the one I wounded/lost in MI about 10 days ago. She will probably live.
Full Metal Jacket appropriate film to quote on this day, the 249th Birthday of the USMC. Happy birthday, Leathernecks! Think I am heading up to MI deer camp tomorrow evening, my back needs another day to recover before I sit in a treestand for 6 days straight. @oldnotdead glad your son is going to be OK
Happy Veterans Day everyone, thank you to all that have served!!! Woke up to what I was hoping to see… Now I just need him to walk by in daylight!!
I remember that monster very well. I also, remember the velvet pics you had of him. Good luck to everyone today! I'm on my way to the woods soon.
All set up in Maryland, same tree as Saturday. Was able to slip in basically silent thanks to it raining all night, would prefer it to be dry and crunchy so I can hear them coming, super thick all around me. 56 right now, wish it was 20 degrees cooler and it would be a perfect morning. Oh well it’s November and it’s not terrible out here! Good luck out there guys!
