Ok, out for lunch. Since I was winded twice this morning I've got to come up with a different plan. None of my stands are setup for any sort of east wind because we just don't get it that often. I think I'll take my tree seat and go into an oak ridge that overlooks a bedding area this afternoon. I've had a camera there and I've been getting some activity on them, so we'll see what happens. It's better than getting busted over and over. Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Back at the house. The doe with 2 fawns got bumped by the neighbor over to our place… well she was in the thick stuff 30yds away. She was stomping in there and finally stuck her head out. Picked me off immediately (my wind was good). She blew twice and bound off. Found my target for tonight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Came home for lunch. Saw a lone doe at 6:50am, and was hoping a buck would be following. That wasn't the case. Heading back in after some food and a quick nap.
Now I am mad at myself. I just checked my bow, 10 inches low at 25 yards. Not sure what happened, but even holding high last night, I am think I shot under that buck. Adjusted the sights, shouldn't be a problem today. Heading out for the afternoon in about an hour. Give you gear a check between hunts, no idea how it got off or for how long. Been having a rough go as far as deer go. My usual hot spots are dead. There is some freah sign but guessing mostly nocturnal. Not just me buddies reporting same. I know the game though. Its like a lit wick on a stick of dynamite. i did have a brief sighting of this guy yesterday in daylight and he was on a mission. Hes been coming and going at night. Had another strapping young buck courting a misses come into the cut corn a little out of range. She finally got my wind when the buck was coming at me head on at 70 yds. They got nervous and did a 180. Took the canoe and a buddy with me today. We are in deep. I will shoot nothing but a world record back here. All joking aside i may shed a few tears if i do have to drag something big out of here. These saddle hunts are killing my back. Thank God for ibuprofen and cold beer.
Congrats to all who killed! @Suncrest08 @Shawn Clark (beutiful buck!) any others i missed i skipped a few of the 20 pages i was behind. Had spotty service lately. @oldnotdead im praying you get a crack at the stud muffin. Hes a dandy!
Back in for the last 3hrs of the day. Same stand. Been a couple 8pts that I'd shoot here and I'll shoot a Doe if she presents. 52, wind is kinda all over the place, though i washed all my stuff and myself so hopefully the scent control works. Good luck afternoon hunters.
Just starting my first sit of the year, finally! In an elevated enclosed blind in a rural neighborhood where everyone lives on a handful of wooded acres. About 20 chickens 20 ft to my right, not the quietest location but this place does have deer!
