In my first saddle hunt. I am a sweaty mess, and I struggled mightily on my first live set up. But I am up now.
A bow hunting evening that I'll never forget. Perfect conditions at 40, cloudy with rain moving in. I had a nice 8pt Buck visiting my winter rye/clover food plot about 15min before the end of shooting time every couple of days. About 3:30 I got in my stand and waited. About 4:30 I saw movement on the hill above me. I saw it was a Buck. As it slowly started down the old logging road I realized that it was the 8pt. He slowly made his way down, stopping to drink at an old spring,. At 46yds he started going across the bank instead of to me. Suddenly he made a hard right turn and into the food plot at 20yds. He was facing me. I waited for him and he took a couple steps to his left which put him broadside. At 4:55 I loosed an arrow and down he went. Spined him. Put a second arrow in his lung and he died where he was hit and fell. 197lb 8pt. My heaviest deer ever and a great VT Buck. I brought his cape to the taxidermist today and he's all chunked up and on ice for processing tomorrow.
After a two day break because of the rain I’m back in a tree in the National Forest. I love hunting here.
Just got caught up. Congrats to Tony on the nice buck and good luck to everyone out there this afternoon.
