I hear ya. Driving 10 hours to and from MO was brutal and I'm sure I got some funny looks at the gas stations. Stretching like I was warming up for a 5k run. Lol.
Well, here’s my story, I climb up into this big shooting Shanty that he built for me and himself. I picked the spot because of the betting area and incredibly thick woods that surround it I got to the stand at about 545 and climbed up. It was probably less than 20 minutes before I saw him come out of the woods and cross in front of the blind at 40 yards. Now I have a Ravin crossbow that could shoot the balls off a mosquito at 50 yards. For some reason when I’m shooting my compound, the crossbow, or the gun I go into automatic mode. My automatic mode in the past as most of you know meant I would miss. But thank God about 10 years ago it changed to heart shots. As soon as I got an opening, I touched off the trigger and heard that all familiar THWACK. I see My illuminated knock, glowing and I knew I probably made a good shot. Takes off right immediately into the thick thorny bedding area. I wait about 15 minutes and check the bolt and it’s covered in blood. I find blood immediately and lots of it. So I went back to the blind and called my buddy who came out and we started tracking it. The blood trail was phenomenal so we kept going in about 90 yards later found him. The drag up the hill through the thorny bedding area was not fun. And thank the Lord there was a four wheeler waiting for us. So he was smaller than I thought he was going to be, but I have no regrets. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
nine hours, bro! I was worth every second! I can still take three doe but I think I’m gonna head home tomorrow. This is a big sucker and it’s going to yield a lot of meat plus I have that big doe killed on Sunday I want to encourage all the hunters out there. I was having the worst season ever had and it doesn’t take long to turn into one of the best season you’ve ever had. just get out there and enjoy nature and you never know what’s gonna happen. It was 82° here yesterday and 67° this morning when I walked back on its way up to another 80° day. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Flooding and trees down. That's going to change the landscape of some of my hunting spots or nullify them all together for a bit.
The problem is tomorrow is going to be raining all day. And another warm day. And then there’s dealing with the deer. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Live from the polling station. Make American Great Again… Grinding work today as it’s supposed to rain all afternoon. Might be able to get out tomorrow afternoon, otherwise I’ll be in a tree all day Thursday and Friday. This weekend is rifle opener… I’ll be out with the 6.5. I need meat in the freezer. Im up. Was setup at 11:30. Saw some buck sign on the way in, but nothing like last year. The wind is strong, so easy to sneak in today. I decided to go for broke and push right up into the bedding. I pick a tree and do a slow stalk to it. About to put a hand on the tree and a buck gets up 30 yards away and walks out the back. Didn't see me, or smell. Just a soft bumb from sound. So i bet he will be back soon. I setup in this tree anyway. Chance he was just a satellite buck and bigger one in there. Keep you updated when i shoot.
I hate cell cameras. One of the bigger bucks I’ve got running around. Broke his left beam a while back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
