Set up in Maryland on the public land again. I got fully set up an hour before light, no one else parked here yet… hoping tweedle dee and tweedle dumb don’t come marching through at first light again! Good luck out there today guys!

Forgot to update for me. Ended up only seeing that one small buck. Buddy hunting the same land shot a velvet buck, so went to help him get it out after dark. Wanted to mount it, so had to take time and protect the antlers.

I have to use my 40 Yard pin for those kind of shots. I have practiced doing just that over the years. I’ve yet to take that shot due to no opportunities. Yet!!!!

    I’ve practiced on 3 D targets from 2 to 7 yards.
40 yard pin does great. Just try it (practice)

Just had a lone doe come to the base of my tree. Initial thought was it was small, as it got closer I was considering it, hard to tell when they come in solo but the nose didn’t look very long. Hope I don’t regret not whacking her

Had a big bodied deer cruise by at 35 yards right at first light. It’s overcast and with the canopy it was so dim I couldn’t tell exactly what it was.

That’s the only deer I’ve seen so far.

I figured I would be covered up in does since I can’t shoot them.

No, I stopped going there. With the price of everything so high I had to cut one of my non -resident states.

I don't blame you. I thought about KY a few years ago but the out of state tag was really high. But with losing my spot in Ohio now, I might reconsider it..

Just had a second velvet spike sprint in, got to the base of my tree and hung around a little, started walking away from me. Got about 15 yards away and turned quartered away…. I really thought about drawing back but then he took off sprinting lol

Beautiful morning on the mountain, if a bit smokey and too warm. The area I’m in has a fair amount of fresh sign but no encounters so far. All is quiet. Taking a breather and just drinking in the country side.

Beautiful Indiana morning here, temps getting down into the low 40s. Heading out to put some drips and mock scrapes up.
