Big temp drop overnight and some rain so I know they’ll be out moving all day and reworking those scrapes. Fingers crossed I get a crack at him. I didn’t sit this evening. Took kids trick or treating instead. Need a lot of luck tomorrow fellas to nail the big guy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Weather channel tells me it will be 22 degrees tomorrow morning. Basically 0 wind all day. Should be a good all day sit. Face is already cold/wind burnt after the last few days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
and yet you have people swear they hunker down and wait it out. Seen too many successful high wind hunts on YouTube to believe that crap anymore. As for me, this evening I was in a climber rocking and rolling with 20-50mph winds 25' up, getting the crap scared out of me. Saw 2 different trees fall, which was a first for me. It was so hairy I actually unhooked and decided which saplings I was going to launch myself toward in case the half dead giant twin oak tree 10' away decided to give up. Also saw a doe and about 20 minutes later a big heavy 7 point was cruising by on an angle of approach that might have gotten to inside 30 yards, then at about 60 yards he locked in on her DOT and veered straight into the wind towards where she went into the thicket. He gave -0- Fs about my best grunting attempts once he locked in. What a season it's already been. So ends my 30th October in a row (yep) without killing/recovering a deer with a bow. November is here. Kill switch engaged.
Does anyone know what kind of tree this is? Really rough shaggy bark, small oval shaped leaves (yellowish orange now and almost all shed) and oozes sap everywhere? Asking because they randomly are well placed around here and I've got 2 ladder stands in them and tonight I even used one in my climber. Bark made it kind of a pain but it was a great set up once I got settled in.
