No. I've hunted this blind location exclusively. I've had several deer, including a 5pt, come past my blind at only 15 feet, yes feet, without detecting me. I'm getting favorable winds which is helping a lot. I'll continue to be patient. I'm good at that.
Patience is the only thing that’s going to help in your situation if you just have the one blind. That’s a lot of time in one stand! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's already overcast shaping up the next few days of nasty weather. Record high temps for today. Thursday is the day to kill a buck. High of 41* and some snow. Got the first picture of a buck cruising the ridge this morning. Just a little guy. But it gives me hope that I'm right.
The funnel/pinch point I'm hunting is only about 80yrds wide, and parallels a road with a pretty steep enbankment on the one side. I'm set up on the other side of this funnel. The deer really have no choice but to travel from east to west, or west to east the way the land lays. Thanks for everyone's input.
You keep saying the funnel that you’re hunting, are you limited to only this funnel or is the property larger to where you can move around and change stand locations? These bucks likely have you “patterned” especially if they’ve seen/heard/smelled you 20+ times. To answer your question, no I don’t think these bucks are moving solely at night, they’re somewhere in the daylight, just not where you are sitting.
Its supposed to be super warm this evening. Got some things to button up on the combine and i think I'm gonna go give the area that that tall eight was another go. You just never know.
I will say overall best hunt this season. Granted most of the deer movement and chasing was before sun up I feel I’m in a good spot. The spike and 4 pt and the 130”+ 8pt came before 9:30a. I wonder what spooked him out of there like that, sounded like he took a couple trees out busting thru there. Maybe that bobcat from earlier or maybe a bigger buck idk. shame he wouldn’t stop at my Meh. Another buck was grunting prior to that behind me in the ravine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The property is quite large (2000 acres), but I've hunted this funnel because it's where I've gotten the videos of these two bucks on a pretty regular basis. I considered the possibility that have me pegged as well. I get in pretty quietly and make no noise when on stand. I have never spooked one of them that I saw/heard. For one of them to see me, I'd have to see them, because this is a very narrow pinch point, where I have good visibility in all directions. It's not impossible that one of them smelled me at some point in time, but as I mentioned, I usually have a good wind for where I'm set up. I will keep trying, because it's been getting busier with each day. Thanks again for your input.
I feel every single buck is on his feet at some point in day light, every day. Your just not in the right spot to see it. Also residual scent is left on the ground every time you go in there. Those buck i can guarantee have smelled you, even if your not there. So a mature buck will avoid that spot at all cost. Only thing that could save you, is if a hot doe come thru there.
Awfully slow here for the time of year it is… it’s coming tho! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Pouring here, we actually need it, high winds as well, They'll be hunkered down in pines scattered around the hill. Things will jump after because, they'll be rescenting their territory and checking for doe. Depending on how long this lasts partial new slate inthe air
Saw DNR getting a big 10 point antlers un stuck from a plastic goat fence on the way to town this morning. I bet that buck smelled a hot goat
Im excited for thursday and friday to hunt this week. good cold front should be a great time to be in the tree
I'm sitting here eating what would make our anti Type 2 diabetes crowd upset. To hunt or not to hunt is the question at 82 degrees.
