I still haven't seen a buck from stand. Thinking maybe tomorrow morning a 200 inch buck will make up for my failure.
sat yesterday AM, got in nice and early, same location as day before, about 7AM the shots started, .22 shots ... coming closer, saw a 'guy' walking, blaze hat on, then another, then another and another .. 4 Hmong walking below the ridge to my east... then they stopped to shoot at who knows what, sounded like a firing line about 150 yds away ... they finally walked off ... I got down, packed up went back to the parking lot, there they were, they had 6 squirrels between 'em .... Morning ruined for me .. I stayed polite as we talked some as I was out numbered, they had rifles and I didnt ;0) .... went to another location across the property, was set up by 1:30, two new scrapes at 30 yds .... nothing but squirrels and woodpeckers seen.. 0 deer seen .... taking today Sunday off, stuff to do around the house, then back up in a different location on Monday, I'll be out all day I think, maybe, who knows ... then 80's for two days .. drats !! ......... thus is hunting State F&W land ... oh, the Joys ...
Temps and conditions changing quick on Halloween and into Nov 1st. Should be a good chance to kill one.
I need to get my fix in soon! Bucks are teasing me Sent from my SM-G990U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Thermals are starting to really pull up hill. Anything else follows same path as earlier will probably wind me and I really don't want to bail. I'll risk it. Too much rutting behavior to leave. Coffee sounds great about now.
Oh and everyone is aware that I posted the pic of LC and the deer he killed, right? He kinda had his hands bloody. I haven't connected in MO. Yet
If I missed anyone thanks and congrats on kills. Right after I said I blew up this a.m.'s hunt I did a few grunts and he came in behind me. I almost let him pass but my health and agenda made me say, your mine. That and I saw the bare main beam. I have spotted 3 good sized buck with similar racks. This guy stunk to high heaven and I thought, as he stopped behind a tree, genetic cull. By the time I made up my mind he was quartering away and I aimed back a bit to catch liver, lungs and hopefully heart. I got liver and lungs. As you can see from pics after a mule kick he made a solid blood trail to where I watched him tip over. I'll be honest that drag to Gator was pretty rough. Headed out now to skin him Good Luck everyone.
You used to have good luck with bucks (and bears) on ridges. And thought toward exploring those parts of MO v that lowland?
