Remember guys ticks are still hungry. I sprayed and tucked then stripped clothes and changed the second I got back in house yestereday. 11p.m I pulled a tick off my side and think the head may still be there. Itwas tiny but you could see it burying it's self deeper as I tried to remove, the sucker still hurts Yah!! 6 new pile drivers just got delivered
Pulled three ticks off my dogs and cat last night in southern Wisconsin Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I had that happen last year. I couldn't get the entire tick out, which concerned me, but the remainder came out on it's own in about four days. Keep an eye on it though.
That is so awesome! What I wouldn’t give to hunt with my dad one more time Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I just couldn't agree more. I miss hunting with my dad badly! When he was healthy, we used to go up to Bradford county during rifle buck season. The day I shot this buck during archery back in 2015, I knew it was probaby the last time my dad would ever see another buck of mine, so I drove the 15 miles back home to get this pic of him and my deer. As it turned out, this was indeed the last buck of mine he saw. He passed away two years later. I miss him every day.
I took an unconventional shot actually. I had the head down facing me and where the neck meets the back clear. I figured the shot would either paralyze it or severe the wind pipe. It severed an artery in the neck at "shoulder" and continued along side until it hit the leg bone just above the joint. Must have hit an artery there too. It popped up and hopped wing flapped a little ways then dropped. I knew the angle would cause a low exit so I'd have a blood trail if needed. Wow, there was blood all over, way more than I expected. Every night I free hand release my bolt dead on bulls eye at 20 yrds. That made it an easy shot, save the dozen and a half eyes on me and some just a couple of feet away. BTW Hen that had a paint brush developing. We have a few good sized flocks that had good hatches this year so easy decision.
Yuck Ticks were really light this year in central sconnie. Usually we can barely do anything in May- July without getting covered in them or bathing in Sawyers, this year I just sprayed a little Deep Woods Off on my boots and was good to go. Don't think I had a single one on me during several planting and stand set up excursions
Been set up for about an half hour. Still pretty hot 75 degrees I’ll be hunting every day now until the 9th when the orange army comes out. Th rut should begin soon. I sure hope the warmer weather doesn’t cause a “nighttime” rut. It’s got to kick in soon
