Good luck AM hunters. Friends wife shot a nice buck last night and helped him track while she got the kids in bed. Followed a crazy amount of blood for about 100yds and then turned into drops. Finally lost the track around midnight. He’s going back jn later this morning to check the trails going into the swamp. Warm again today. Cold front pushing through tonight. 48 hours till I pick up dad from the airport and head to Michigan deer camp. It's been about 8 years since he was able to make it and I really thought he was done. Going to take a lot of pics this year, between him and his older brother there's not many seasons left with them.
Often we do not know when the "last time" will occur. It sounds like you are going to cherish the time with your dad and uncle. Enjoy and relish the moment.
Thanks guys ,not a big bird but, we finished ground turkey last night as burgers. This will be ground and soup stock. I actually have stock going in crock with the rooster carcasses. They must have been roosted right over garden because the crop was empty. Not one bit of meat was hit. Would have been perfect if....I could find that dang bolt!! Absolutely buried in clover. Great hunt cam missed the hit. It did show my first day buck a 4pt at 5p.m. yesterday. A slew of midnight doe. Good luck guys.
I'm feeling the pain. We're looking at potentially breaking a record set here in the 1920's, with temps around 84F. I'm thinking any kind of rut activity will be at night, since almost all the bucks I have on cam are night pics. It's gotta change very soon!
