Wife didn't want to go, so I'm sitting in the Turnip plot stand . Wind is good, blowing down the hill toward the road. It's crunchy so I will here them from a mile away. 1hr 50min of shooting time left. Don't expect anything till 1800. Kill!
Made it to the rut stand. Probably a bad idea I jumped at least 4. I won’t come back in here until I start my all day sits. Light rain all morning finally clearing up perfect conditions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Found an absolute giant rub getting into a new spot this afternoon. It's chest/chin high. Sent from my SM-G990U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
All settled in. Ready to launch and kill. Made this mock scrape 8 days ago and they've been hitting it hard. It's just short of 25 yards from my stand.
Had help come out and he walked the whole riverbed edge. No dog that I know of. What does a 1 lung do? Run till they drop or bed quick?
Sorry Camo, hope you find him Jonny. My son and I are back up. I would much rather hunt in cool temps than what we have in SE Missouri right now. The mornings are great but this low to mid 70 crap is awful. Supposed to keep warming up over the next several days again. Oh well, can’t shoot from the couch! Good luck all! There is actually different thoughts on a lung deer hit… some same to push it, others say to let it bed…. My brother one lunged one years ago and it bed pretty quick… he saw it and heard it wheezing and just watched it for 30 minutes… I told him to sneak closer and put another one in him… when he did, the buck jumped out of. The bed and ran 50 yards and dropped dead Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
We've been set up for about 30 mins. No action yet. I haven't gotten pics since 5pm yesterday so they should be due to show up.
I’m up, real dry and crunchy here. Sitting on the shaded side of the hill 65 and no wind. Good luck guys tracking deer and those out hunting.
We lost blood at a little over a quarter of a mile. He just plain pulled a Houdini. We circled and arched and found nothing. Also, we never did find where he bedded down.
Sorry chief, hopefully you find closure. They are amazing animals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Chief is there a ravine or water in the direction he went? If so he may have went to it. Sorry to hear the blood petered out....
