At least check it out. If you track for over 200 yards, then consider waiting a while longer.

The blue stand is where I was sitting. The red X
mark below it is where he was when I shot. He wheeled and ran ESE. He’s hurt bad so I’ll bet he’s going to follow that draw that runs SE.

Thinking about pulling this set, head over to my land for an evening sit. Wind here is getting swirly.

It would definitely be safer to wait 6 hours. My only concern is will the meat still be good?

Follow your gut instinct. 6 in one, half a dozen with the other. I can see getting on the track and I can see waiting.

I personally think it will be perfectly fine letting it sit 6hrs.

Okay. I’ll compromise. I’ll take Elly May down and start tracking at 1::30. That’ll be five hours.

Took the boy out and hung a set over 3 scrapes and several rubs and trails in thick cover. Hung another set of sticks at a pinch point

Yes, it is not that warm out. I have hung up elk meat hang in game bags outside for 5 days without any issue.

Beat me up now, I deserve it. Had 3 come in just as we were getting ready to call it. Stopped the last doe at 16 yards with a heavy quartering-to shot. I took the shot since having the little guy with me. Shouldn’t have I know!

I believe It was 1 lung and out with no gut matter. Felt great when I picked up the arrow but terrible blood trail. Down to specks out where we last had eyes on her. Another 70 yards and she is across the river. Or she went through the corn a long way and who knows what direction. They never circled back around where we would see them. So we came home to rest and get something to drink.

    Bummed

Sat five hours this morning and saw nothing. But, checked my cams and one of my target 8pts hit his scrape for the third time. I'm only getting night pics of him for now, but that should change soon, since I am getting plenty of doe pics. Back in this afternoon/evening.

I'd check up and down the river. They do tend to go to water when wounded. Good luck!

Yes, the suspense is killing us. I'll be heading out to the tree here in a couple hours and I'd rather be watching deer than watching my phone, lol. Hope you find him quick! Good luck!

Yeah I have a corn field in center of all my hardwoods to hunt and have a crazy suspicion that my shooter is living in it based off his direction of travel. All other fields for a mile radius are harvested
