I definitely think I would wait a little bit. The arrow itself looks pretty good, but it is definitely darker than I would like. I’m with Bret, I would wait until at least after noon. I would also go in with somebody that sees blood well without your trusty dog just in case he’s still alive.
She was freed, but it wasn't me. Father in law was at property today and found her. Imagine if it was stuck there over night, those coyotes would have made a mess
I tried to find a blood trail leaving the impact site but I couldnt. I’m back at the house now. I’m going to have to walk Elly May down there to find it. It’s about 3/4 mile. Going in is easy. Coming out is hard. I sure wish I had someone else that could go along. My wife is doing Ozark Trail maintenance today.
It’s 60 degrees now on its way up to 70 for a high. Does everyone think I should wait until 1:00 or 2:00 to pick up the track with Elly May?
If he’s already dead that’s true, but then again, if he’s already dead is he still going to be good after lying in the warmth for 5-6 hours? After I find him I’ll have to walk Elly May back, get the bike and cart and go back down to get him.
I’m actually thinking about putting Elly May on the track three hours after the shot. If we bump him he’s not gonna make it far. Then I’ll know he’s not spoiling in the heat and Elly May and I can wait for an hour and get back after him. Sound like a bad idea?
If he's got an intestine wound I'd would field dress him on the spot when you find him, and get him in the shade. For the haul trip out...
