Plausible...I've heard crows recognize individuals and communicate threats, detailed enough the others crows can recognize an particular person...

    Word is out on LC

I need to take a break. I'm getting pretty pissed that even though I'm seeing lots of bucks, and some of them pretty good quality bucks, Murphy's Law is kicking my butt. Anything that can go wrong goes wrong. Well, that's not really Murphy's Law, but its close. Like the saying goes: It could be raining boobies and I'd walk outside and get hit right between the eyes by a big old pecker.

I set up in what should have been the perfect spot. About 10 minutes before dark I heard them coming. One of them hit the road just before the end of shooting light, turned right and went on. The other one? Yep, my curse continues. That SOB crossed the road and walked almost right to the base of my tree. Five yards away. I could see him and I could see the bases and how the main beam flared out but I couldn't tell how big he was. I considered flicking my sight light on and shooting him but then thought that was a stupid thought. He might be a 90" buck.

Then the bastage walked straight to the base of my tree, sniffed, bounced out a bit and looked up. We had a stare-off that lasted until I almost couldn't see him any more. Finally he bounced out and walked away. I got down and out of there.

I don't know what this means for the morning hunt tomorrow. Maybe another one will walk by or maybe I can take out some of my frustration on a big old doe.

Put me down for one of them.

Now I'm irritated and just want to kill something.

1 spike, 6 trains, 38 squirrels, & some turkey hens. Almost laid the hurt to that spike, but couldn’t do it. Son has soccer at noon, might sneak out early am, but not sure about it.

I’ll be heading out in about 30 minutes. The wind is supposed to be “light and variable”, which usually doesn’t end well for me.

Good luck, don’t let this turn into work for you or your going to lose the fun of it. If its getting frustrating then it’s going to crush your whole year.

Hope you have a restful hunt today! Just take what comes your way and have fun!

Thanks. I’ve been thinking about that very thing. I just need to relax and enjoy it.
