Just had 2 fawns come out of the thicket and bed down 40 yards away. I really don't like to shoot purse deer.

You’re lucky. Every time the wind shifts for me it goes to the nearest deer’s nose.

Hunting peasant land…I mean public land. Needed a change of scenery, it’s flat and fairly open woods. Hopefully I picked a decent enough spot to catch something.
Have a nice ambiance behind me though, 3rd train is rolling down the tracks, weird setup, this place is cut in half by train tracks.

Live from the ground using a yuge double trunk oak as my blind. Ha! Chilling on a small saddle where 3 finger ridges come together. Might be a little early for this spot, but I can't resist checking it out. Good luck out there!

First customer of the afternoon. Little six point I think. I heard antlers rubbing in the thick stuff and spotted him.

They decided nap time was over. That was a slam dunk 50 shot, but I couldn't do it.

No fuzzy tailed deer yet, just birds and squirrels. Wind died down and I should hear anything a mile away.

Okay, so I didn't “scout” this area when I moved my stand. I’m not a fan of putting footprints on the ground any more than I have to when I’m hunting. I just moved far enough in to put me in range of the buck travel path.

I’ve been setting here looking at the odd strip of thin timber and realized it’s an old road. THATS why they’re traveling it. I started glassing the ground and sure enough, there is a scrape under a white oak sapling 10 yards away.

Please let one of those two big boys walk that road either this evening or in the morning.
