Went to the river lease place to check out a couple stands. Also to hang some new cell cams up on trails coming to the bean field. Found a dead fawn over by a small pond that I park by. Body not touched but it looked like the birds got after its eyes and brain. I hope its not a sign of things to come! Started getting pictures as i was loading up to leave. Made me feel better a little bit.
That sucks. I've heard some areas of Indiana are getting hammered by EHD this year. Along with several other states
I scouted a piece of public ground near my house today. I hunted there probably 35-40 years ago. But at that time there were many more bowhunters. I recently talked to a guy that hunts there now and he said it gets very little pressure during bow season. I found a spot about a mile off the road that had several beds and acorns falling right now. It borders a waterfowl sanctuary that allows no hunting and no trespassing. In Indiana the state allows limited ag planting on their properties. So there was a cornfield and a bean field very close by. I plan to keep an eye on this spot and see if anyone else goes back there. But for now it shows some promise. Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Think you might be right. Would be real hard for me to pass this year though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Out of respect for the animals I plan on killing this fall, I've decided to hit the woods with the recurve devil bow. I have zero time during the week to shoot/practice, so, devil bow it is! I need to order some new hunting pants, but other than that, I'm ready! I dropped 35 pounds and still losing weight, so it should be less of a strain getting to my deep spots later in the season. The blood lust is real and the desire to kill is real this year. Nature is nature, I'm a killer. For humans to live something has to die. I've been reminding myself of this by watching videos like this: LETS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry to hear of you losing the OH piece Jim, that sucks. This sounds like it could be a good weekday spot to hunt, especially during the rut!
Getting off work at noon and walking the perimeter of a spot that butts up against a corn field. Hunting for big tracks. 2024. Bring it.
