Set up since 6:10. Waited 15 days to hunt favorite blind. Rain and fog arrived early at 6:30. Falls here blind is filled with the smell of wood smoke from houses a 1/4 mile away.. if they are going to leave standing corn for swamp bedding they usually hit the oak flats first. Blinds on leading edge of them.
Eewww someone's burning creosote or a nasty wood.

Had a buck come through 1 minute into shooting light at 9 yards… couldn’t see exactly what he was and didn’t have enough light to shoot, when he got a little further I got the binos on him and it looked like he would have got an arrow if I could have seen enough to shoot

As bad as my entrance was I did not walk past my stand like I thought. No way it’s a west wind this morning either. Squirrels and birds so far. 016834FA-CDAB-4BDF-A3E0-6B55A7F27859.jpeg

For those of you who turkey hunt: What time do they usually fly down from their roost?

Set up between a bedding area with lots of rubs, and a cut soybean field. Coyote incoming.

Really depends on weather. Between half hour before '' legal'' light and an hour after

If I'm hunting, right after I run out of patience and try to close distance, get busted and cuss my way back to the truck.

Fly down varies depending on the weather. Typically turkey fly down about sunrise. Rainy/wet weather will often delay fly down. This spring I watched 2 hens fly down an hour after sunrise....extremely late.
