That was a first for this early in the year.

A half hour before dark I rattled moderately. I followed that up with a couple of grunts from my young buck grunt tube.

I was still putting the tube back in my pack when I heard him coming at a full run. He came up the hill on the other side of the grass field, across the grass field and he stopped at the wood edge 25 yards away and stood there looking. I almost killed him then, and if I’d been in Arkansas or in Mark Twain National Forest I would have, but I remembered @Suncrest08 telling me yesterday in a PM that I should hold off on smaller bucks here.

He walked straight to me, sniffed the base of my tree and then walked on by. Walking away he gave me a beautiful quartering away shot and I really kinda wanted to light him up but I’m sure there are better bucks on this place.

    That was just really fun.

I agree with Sun. You are going to get a crack at a real good buck soon.

I had a crazy sit, I saw 12 bucks and over 30 deer. Almost shot a big 10, this is a spot I just got permission on this year. First time I hunted it, I’m all fired up. Gonna be a fun couple weeks leading up to the rut!!

No joy again tonight, but if he'd turned right, my evening would've been a lot cooler.

Bummer to hear about the missed shots. Get back out and try again! I'm trying to count to 5 before I shoot a deer...help to settle me and my pin. Even put orange tape so I can read it at full draw.

Had another decent 10 show up. This one seems younger. From pic, I think he needs another year. 1000010066.jpg 1000010066.jpg

Oh trust me, I’ll kill deer.

Im sure this place is absolutely loaded with bucks that size. While I’m waiting for a bigger one I’ll try to shoot does, but only on morning sits.

Does will get a pass on evening sits here.
