I hate that happened to you but I'm glad it wasn't worse. Be careful man! Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
what ground blind is that? Where I hunt no buck like that would come w/in 30 yards of any ground blind I have, much less 7.
Bill, WTF! Bro, I don’t recommend falling from a tree… thank the Good Lord you are OK! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Assuming the LW sticks are attached correctly, they are VERY secure. I used them numerous times over the years without issue.
I had something similar happen… not nearly to your degree. Caught the branch with my hands just the weight shift got the adrenaline running. I now have 2 linesman belts. Call me a pussy but I always have one now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
100%. I was in a hurry to get set up this morning, likely I was careless, though I had been standing on that stick prior to set stick 4...who knows. Stuff happens.
Michigan. I've hunted that area every year since 2007 and this is the second-best antlered-buck I've ever had a shot on. Definitely Top 5 I've even seen on the hoof. He was heavy. Probably even older than 4.5, but he came in from my 2 o'clock quartering to then turned right and was quartering away at about my 1 o'clock when I let it fly so I never saw him broadside to get a real good look at his body. But his bases were coke cans and his beams swooped forward 2x as high as his ears. Similar to this stock photo if the left side matched the right, maybe slightly more mass and shorter g2/g3. I'm pretty sure we have him on cam in velvet (or maybe his offspring or younger brother,) I asked my cousin to send it to me if he hasn't already deleted that card. NGL, had buck fever bad for the first time in a long time. I could see the trio of bucks he was with for several minutes as they made their way towards me and I kept seeing his freaking crown towering over the tops of the other deer's antlers. When they got within range he was #2 in the stack. I had just enough time to steady my breathing before drawing. I had ranged to where I thought he was going to clear but when he switched directions that put him going away and I didn't have opportunity to re-range. He was also on high-alert as a spike he was trailing by about 30 yards had moved into my scent stream and just blown out. I really did think he was 30, and I put the dot at the lower quarter of his chest thinking he was gonna duck a bit- he didn't and the arrow went about 3" under him. Just sucks to have pretty much everything come together and then flub a very makeable shot. If that spike doesn't blow out...If he had ducked...if I had ranged that opening beforehand...if he had walked 5 more yards before turning...if he hadn't turned at all...If I didn't suck. Good news- clean miss/didn't wound him Good news- he never saw or winded me Good news- recovered my arrow, everything is good and the broadhead just needs a light re-touch (like $30 worth of equipment) Good news, reshot my bow confirmed everything is still on I'm licking my wounds and taking care of the homefront until Oct 24. Good luck everyone. @wl74, glad you are OK
I’m still in my tree. I think I’ll sit until 11:00 or so just because I don’t have anything else to do. When I get down I’ll have to move this stand.
I've had clothes/equip snag the top of a stick before, barely kicking out the bottom, then I've almost had the stick completely kick out after that. One of the reasons I hate using sticks so much. I'd rather lug a stick ladder in sections out into the woods with me or use a climber if at all possible.
